At UFC 276, Garry secured a victory against Gabriel Green. Along with appreciation from the MMA community, Garry also received praise from UFC star, Conor McGregor.

McGregor, on his Twitter, congratulated Ian Garry. ‘The Notorious’ spoke about how impressive Garry looked. In his tweet, the former 155-pound champion wrote, “Ian Garry was incredibly impressive this weekend. Fully immersed in it all. Enjoying every second.”

‘The Notorious’ further wrote, “Willingness to engage / commit. The Potential for another “future” Irish mma ufc champion rose by a real nice margin this weekend. Congrats Ian, keep going brother!”

Garry was quick to respond to the tweet by McGregor. In his tweet, the undefeated fighter thanked McGregor for his wishes and wrote to him about bringing the UFC back to Dublin. Garry tweeted, “Thank You! The Take Over Part 2 continues to grow, I cannot wait for your return. Let’s bring the @ufc back to Dublin. It’s Inevitable.”

He said, “The funny clips that he’d say like ‘Who the f**k is that guy.’ All that, it’s always going to be memorable.”

Garry made it clear that he enjoyed people comparing him to McGregor. He said, “It’s awesome. Even the fact that people say that I’m the next \him, or they compare me to him, it’s f**king cool.” The fighter also revealed how he wanted to be like ‘The Notorious.” Garry said, “They’re comparing to someone who literally is the reason I feel like I’m in the sport because I wanted to be like him.”
