Jared Gordon earned a decision win over Joe Solecki at UFC Fight Night: Santos vs Walker this weekend. In his post-fight interview, Gordon proceeded to call out the promotion’s latest cash cow, Paddy Pimblett.

He had my name in his mouth, before his debut. Nothing malicious. I like the guy. But, I beat his teammate Chris Fishgold. And he wanted to get that one back. So, come and get it. I am going 2-0 against your team and I’ll be the Cage Warriors official champion,” said Fishgold while chatting with Daniel Cormier in his post-fight interview.

Let’s do this,” Pimblett responded.

As Fishgold is a teammate of Pimblett and Gordon defeated Fishgold in 2020 in a UFC Fight Night event, it’s understandable why Pimblett wants to get that win back in his favor.

Paddy Pimblett vs Jared Gordon next?

Pimblett had a stellar debut in the UFC a month ago. There was a lot of hype surrounding ‘The Baddy’ ahead of his debut. He lived up to every bit of that with a magnificent performance.

‘The Baddy’ bettered Luigi Vendramini in a back-and-forth contest. After surviving an early scare, Pimblett landed some brutal shots on his opponent and eventually earned a spectacular first-round finish.

However, many believe Pimblett is not yet ready for the cream of the crop of the lightweight division, as he needs to address a few holes in his game before facing the elites. That being said, a fight against Gordon might be a perfect fit for him.

As Gordon is an established name of the 155-lbs division of the UFC, a fight against Pimblett will be a great opportunity for him as well. With a win, Gordon can raise his stock higher than ever.

It will be interesting to see if the UFC eventually makes the fight official. With Pimblett already accepting the bout, it seems like a no-brainer for the promotion to make next.
