After a massively successful MMA career with the UFC, ‘The Eagle’ is setting himself up as a promoter. Nurmagomedov is gearing up for his first North American event for his MMA promotion- Eagle Fighting Championship. During an interview for the same, ‘The Eagle’ took a jibe at his former foe- Dustin Poirier. No, he didn’t call Poirier out or challenge him for a fight against any of his teammates. Instead, he gave Poirier an offer.

In a recent interview with ESPN, ‘The Eagle’ was asked for his opinion on the UFC 269 main event. Initially, he stated that Dustin Poirier’s loss surprised him. But afterward, when the host asked him to give ‘The Diamond’ some advice, Nurmagomedov jokingly offered Poirier to join his promotion.

He said, “Just call me, I am gonna sign Dustin Poirier in Eagle FC 16. Dustin, I know like, he can fight in 170. It’s a little bit hard to make 155, Of course, you always make. But it’s gonna be good for him, 165. If UFC release him, Khabib, here always, you know, with Eagle FC. We are gonna sign him. We can make some charity stuff together. Let’s go Dustin, just call me. You know my manager number.”

Last year, after his retirement from UFC, Nurmagomedov purchased a Russia-based MMA promotion by the name of Gorilla FC. Interestingly, he renamed it to Eagle Fighting Championship to better suit his monicker.

Dustin Poirier fought Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title

Dustin Poirier and Khabib Nurmagomedov are no strangers to each other. Both the high-class Mixed Martial Artists have locked horns in the octagon. It was back in 2019, right after Khabib Nurmagomedov’s high-voltage dramatic rivalry against Conor McGregor.

The lightweights met each other in Nurmagomedov’s second title defense. And in the mother of all coincidences, ‘The Diamond’ lost the match in the 3rd round after Nurmagomedov secured his back and put him in a Rear-Naked Choke (the same as his loss against Charles Oliveira).
