Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor was one of the most heated rivalries in the UFC. Both men had no love lost between them, heading into their fight at UFC 229.

The animosity between the two top dogs of the UFC started at the media day before UFC 223. A few days before the media day, Nurmagomedov got into an altercation with Artem Lobov. Lobov, at the time, was known to be close to ‘The Notorious’, and during the media day, McGregor was let inside the arena. And once all the fighters present were preparing to leave, the former two-division champion ran past the bus and threw a metal dolly at it. It ended up injuring two fighters on the bus and had to be removed from the card.

The Eagle‘ claimed the title at the event and his first title defense was against Conor McGregor. The Irishman said a lot of things in the buildup to the fight. From personal remarks to comments about his religion and family, he left no stone unturned to get into the Russian’s head. However, ‘The Eagle’ didn’t let it bother him, and on the fight day, proved to be the better fighter.

He dominated his opponent and didn’t let him use his striking to gain the upper hand. He successfully kept his title, but there was one particular in the fight that stood out. While landing some ground and pound on McGregor, Nurmagomedov started talking trash. He said, “Talk to me. What happened? Let’s talk now. Let’s talk.”

However, the champion wasn’t satisfied with just a win and ended up jumping outside the octagon while McGregor’s crew and had to be separated.

Khabib Nurmagomedov will be in the USA

The former UFC lightweight champion and undefeated fighter, Khabib Nurmagomedov, made an announcement on Twitter.

‘The Eagle’ had an exciting announcement. He wrote, “USA I’m coming. I am sending you location. January 25th, Detroit, Michigan. I am partnering with @MiftaahInst & @ClassAEvent for an exclusive evening not to be missed!”

The Dagestan native owns an MMA promotion, Eagle FC and it will make its U.S. debut this month. They’ll have their first event in the country on January 28 and will feature some MMA legends. Fans will see Rashad Evans and Renan Barao back in action.

Nurmagomedov would hope to promote the upcoming event in his appearance as well.
