UFC middleweight Darren Till fell short in his campaign to secure a title shot following a bout against Derek Brunson. The grizzly veteran in Brunson earned a third-round RNC submission win and is now riding a 5 five-fight win streak. In stark contrast, Till is 1-4 in his last five outings and his aspirations to contest for UFC gold appear to be slipping away.

Darren Till started off strong as always, however, Brunson used his wrestling to dictate the position of the fight. Chiefly, Brunson is one of the best chain wrestlers in the UFC and Till had very little to offer in terms of resistance. Although the Liverpool native was able to land some sound shots, Derek Brunson being the savvy veteran that he is, came out on top.

Darren Till: Never back down

Following his defeat to Derek Brunson, Darren Till took to Instagram and shared images of Michael Bisping and Charles Oliveira. The implication of his post is that the aforementioned fighters had a long road in the UFC before becoming champions. It’s safe to assume that Darren Till will be pulling courage from both Bisping and Oliveira as he goes ahead in his career.

In fact, Charles Oliveira soon sent out a tweet addressing Till’s post and had some words of encouragement for the Englishman. ‘Do Bronx’ said that he would be happy to train Darren Till and also told him not to give up. Oliveira’s word on the matter means something especially since it took him 28 fights to become a UFC world champion.

There’s no doubt that Darren Till has what it takes to have the UFC middleweight strap wrapped around his waist one day. However, he has to go back to the drawing board and access certain moves he makes.

The general consensus is that Darren Till will have to fight someone ranked outside the top 10 to regain some momentum. He’s on quite a slump in his UFC career and he desperately needs to get back some confidence after his skid.
