Tony Ferguson recently took to Twitter to take a cheeky dig at former foe Khabib Nurmagomedov. The duo was scheduled to clash 5 times. However, either party had to withdraw from the proposed contest on each occasion. The recent canceled fight was at UFC 249 as Nurmagomedov couldn’t travel to the US due to the rise of coronavirus worldwide.

Nevertheless, ‘The Eagle’ once missed weight for the fight and had to be given medical care due to the failed weight cut. That was ahead of UFC 209 and a few days before the event Nurmagomedov was spotted at a restaurant with his friend enjoying some Tiramisu. Ferguson has never let it go and has always taken a jibe at his Russian counterpart due to that.

Ferguson recently posted yet another hilarious video of creator Mojahed Fudailat. “I’ll Just Set This Right Here…” -CSO- # BOGOEvery Tuesday PhreeKnuckleSamiches4Fathead Khabieber Is Gonna Fold Let’s Wrestle,” he captioned it.

Fans have been really unfortunate to see two of the very best lightweights in the history of the UFC never actually share the Octagon. They ruled the division for the better part of the last decade.

And with the Russian retired and Ferguson on a 3-fight skid, the chances of that fight happening anytime soon are slim to none. It will always remain a case of what could have been as many believed Ferguson was the kryptonite inside the Octagon that Nurmagomedov never had.

What’s next for Tony Ferguson?

Ferguson was once on a 12-fight winning streak at the lightweight division of the UFC. However, a brutal loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 249 ended his run. Then he was completely dominated by the current champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 256 over three rounds. Yet another one-sided loss to Beneil Dariush followed.

Many believe Ferguson is on borrowed time at the top of the lightweight division as age has caught up with him. His attributes are not as effective as fans believe. But he is a different breed of a fighter and still has the skills to beat anybody on the roster on his day. So, a good win might be all he needs for a return to the top. Who he faces once he is looking to be back in action, remains to be seen.
