The fans were anticipating for Jamahal Hill to take on former champion Jiří Procházka for his first title defense this year. However, he suffered an injury recently and as a result, had to relinquish the title. UFC fans were not happy to hear the news of ‘Sweet Dreams’ unexpected injury. Hill was on a roll when he became the UFC light heavyweight champion. He has only one loss in his MMA record and has defeated contenders like Johnny Walker, Thiago Santos, and the recently retired Glover Teixeira. Unfortunately, in a recent video he posted on his YouTube channel, Hill announced that he will be giving up his championship anticipating a long injury layoff.
Jamahal Hill said, “Unfortunately, we’re gonna have to wait a little bit longer [for the Prochazka fight].” He added, “I have unfortunately suffered an injury. I have ruptured my Achilles.” ‘Sweet Dreams’ was visibly upset when he broke the news. However, as a professional, he also understands that the show must go on.

Achilles injuries generally take about four to six months for complete recovery. In addition to that timeline, they also require physical therapy if an athlete plans to recover quicker. However, Jamahal Hill mentioned that he has been assured by the UFC that he will get a title shot. We will have to wait and see if that happens when he comes back 100 percent fit.
