UFC 308 saw Magomed Ankalaev extending his winning streak to 11 fights after defeating Aleksandar Rakic by unanimous decision. Immediately after clinching the victory, he called out Alex Pereira and poked him and his team to stop running away and fight him. The Dagestani has been calling out ‘Poatan’ for quite some time now and with this victory, it’s kind of certain that he will be the next fight for the Brazilian light heavyweight. However, his former opponent, Jan Blachowicz is not interested in the way Ankalaev’s latest outing ended up.

The duo fought to a decision and maintained a healthy distance throughout the bout. There were no takedowns or knockout opportunities, which seemed to bore Blachowicz. The former light-heavyweight champion took to his X handle to disregard Ankalaev’s victory as he asked the fans to choose between Ankalaev vs. Pereira or him vs. Pereira.

“You can get this or me vs. Pereira 2. What say you?” wrote Blachowicz as he witnessed Magomed Ankalaev’s match at UFC 308. It must be noted that Blachowicz has fought against both Ankalaev and Pereira. His fight against Pereira ended in a close-call defeat while on the other hand his match with the ‘Dagestani’ ended in a tie.

The light-heavyweight division is set to evolve after UFC 308

Magomed Ankalaev’s victory at UFC 308 was a pivotal moment in his career, particularly with a win over ‘Rocket’ likely setting him up for a title shot against Alex Pereira. The Dagestani fighter has been vocal about his desire to face ‘Poatan,’ and during his Octagon interview, Ankalaev asserted, “I think I’ve done everything to earn the title shot. I’d like to talk to Alex. I’d like to tell him to stop running away from me. We should fight. That’s what everybody wants to see.”

However, the landscape becomes more intriguing with Jan Blachowicz entering the conversation, especially given that his last match against Pereira was closely contested. UFC CEO Dana White could potentially schedule a tiebreaker fight between Ankalaev and Blachowicz, with the winner moving on to challenge Pereira.

Alternatively, Ankalaev could face Pereira directly, with the winner then set to clash with Blachowicz for a definitive showdown. Regardless of the route taken, the excitement is palpable.
