Islam Makhachev created history after successfully defending his UFC lightweight title against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284. He was also successful in bagging the no.1 pound-for-pound fighter status. However, many people believe that Makhachev is undeserving of the P4P title. Recently, his manager, Ali Abdelaziz, took to social media to express his thought on the issue.

Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski put on a clinic at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. Their excellent counter-attacking and counter-grappling skills were on full display in front of the energetic Australian crowd. Ultimately, the Dagestan native turned out to be successful after winning the fight via a unanimous decision.

Ali Abdelaziz has always been a strong advocate of the current lightweight champion’s ability to fight. He once claimed that Makhachev is the better and improved version of the UFC legend, Khabib Nurmagomedov, in an interview with TMZ. He also recently rooted for the 31-year-old Dagestani fighter to win against Volkanovski, claiming that he had a huge power advantage on his side. However, the match turned out to be a close fight.

Islam Makhachev is now on a 12-fight winning streak. It is currently the longest active undefeated streak in the UFC. There have been no official announcements regarding his next fight. The new P4P king will most likely take some time away after the toughest fight in his UFC career.
