Marc Goddard Shoves Shamil Gaziev’s Team Out of Octagon as Fighter Refuses to Carry On Against Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC Vegas 87 Main Event

Jairzinho Rozenstruik has won his UFC Vegas 87 finale against Shamil Gaziev. Gaziev had a 12-0 record before running into the Rozenstruik and now, he’s got a potentially injured eye to worry about. No, there were no reported eye-pokes but the doctor had to come in all the same.

‘Bigi Boy’ emerged victorious after the fourth round of the fight via a TKO win. It wasn’t a fight that went to many levels, as both the fighters stuck to striking and punching for most of their time in the cage. Here’s how the fourth-round KO/TKO win came to be after referee Marc Goddard stepped in strong.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik outstruck his opponent, Gaziev for the latter parts of the bout. During the 3rd and the 4th rounds, it appeared as if Gaziev was almost always on the defensive. Granted his head movement was amazing, he still took a lot of damage.

Leading towards the end of the fourth round, Gaziev would seemingly admit to his corner that he was having some trouble seeing out of one of his eyes. Ref Marc Goddard decided to take the matter into his own hands and got the doctor involved.

This move makes more sense given the fact that Gaziev’s corner hesitated with the fighter’s condition. Once he’d heard the fighter out, it was official. The fight had to be called off and Rozenstruik was the winner via KO/TKO since Gaziev could no longer compete.

What did you think of the stoppage during the main event of at UFC Vegas 87? The fight was going on a pace that was becoming less and less speedy as the rounds went on. At one point, it almost looked like the fight would go down to a decision and that could have been the case too.

Both, Gaziev and Rozenstruik gave their best. The heavyweights circled the cage constantly staying on their feet giving the audience a stand-up fight that everyone craves. However, by round three, it looked like both the fighters were spent.

Gaziev spent a long time on the defensive at UFC Vegas 87, eyeing his opponent and trying to predict his moves and he was successful too. His head movement was on point and it led to ‘Bigi Boy’ missing a lot of his punches and strikes. However, he would eventually get him.

At one point, Rozenstruik managed to knock Gaziev’s mouth piece away leading Goddard to hand it back to him. In the end, perhaps it was a combination of punches that did the job for Gaziev’s eyes. We would only know once more is revealed post-fight.
