Marlon Vera will lock horns with Davey Grant in the Bantamweight shown down at UFC Fight Night on June 19. This is the first bout of the year for ‘Chito’ Vera, as his last appearance came in December 2020. In his last fight, he fought the UFC veteran Jose Aldo where he lost the fight by unanimous decision. ‘Chito’ was unable to handle the pace of the fight, and ultimately got outclassed by ‘The King of Rio’. This came in as a reality check for the Ecuadorian making him realize that there are levels to this game.

In a recent interview with the UFC, Marlon Vera shared the lessons that he learned after his loss against Aldo. Vera said, “Losing will teach you a hundred lessons, and if you don’t learn when you lose you are an a**hole. So you better learn from those mistakes because it cost me a lot that fights it cost me a lot. I am not planning anything like that to happen again.”

‘Chito’ Vera continued, “I started training like a week after I was trying to fight in January or February and I did ask a lot and it didn’t happen so I was like, ok. They’re things you cannot control getting in a fight. So I just keep myself in the gym keep working and I definitely make questions about how to get better how to improve a lot of things and it’s been a good run in this last six months and I am feeling great.”

Davey Grant a threat for Marlon Vera

Davey Grant is on a three-fight winning streak with two performances of the night bonus in his last two appearances. Grant knocked out his last two opponents, which makes him an actual threat for Vera. ‘Dangerous’ is certainly living up to his nickname as he has caused a lot of trouble for his last three opponents.

He will try to keep the winning momentum alive by beating Vera and would love to put his name in the top 15 UFC Bantamweights by removing ‘Chito’ from the list. Marlon Vera is ranked fifteenth in the Bantamweight raking. Therefore, it’s a must-win fight for the Ecuadorian because one more loss could get him out of the conversation.
