The bout was screaming the old-gen vs. new-gen fight. Rafael Dos Anjos started the match by having the upper hand when he clinched round one for himself, however ‘Gamer’ was not in the mood to let go of his winning streak. Mateusz Gamrot called out Islam Makhachev after UFC 299 victory

Mateusz Gamrot seemed a bit sloppy in the initial round, with Rafael Dos Anjos taking control of the match. Absorbing knees and body shots, Gamrot sustained heavy damage in the first round. However, things changed quickly when Gamrot started wrestling. Dos Anjos couldn’t keep up with Gamrot’s wrestling and the conclusion was Gamrot’s victory.

After the win, Gamrot took center stage to issue a callout to Islam Makhachev while having a conversation with Joe Rogan. “Dagestani wrestling vs. Poland wrestling,” said Gamrot in his statement. ‘Gamer’s ability to turn the match in his favor took the game his way and seems like he learned this technique from his partner Dustin Poirier.

Gamrot won by way of a unanimous decision against Rafael Dos Anjos, while on the other hand, Dustin Poirier knocked out Benoit Sant-Denis. Their camp seems to have worked miracles for them. “This was a great time. We did together a full camp. We sparred together for five weeks. We did almost like, 15 rounds together. Every training (session) with Dustin was a big lesson for me. He’s a really experienced guy in the UFC, a special person.I am happy that I trained with him. Like I say, my confidence is up right now,” said Gamrot in an interview.

Gamrot is on a three-fight winning streak now. What’s next for ‘Gamer? Will he fight against the top brass or will Dana White give him Makhachev? Time will tell. What’s your opinion on this?
