Matt Damon and Ben Affleck Announce Big News After Michael Jordan Film as Celebrity Duo Plan Biopic on NCAA Wrestling Legend Anthony Robles

There have been many MMA stars with a background in NCAA wrestling. It has produced many UFC stars. Recently, NCAA prospect Bo Nickal also made a triumphant debut at UFC 285. However, such athletes are now making headway in Hollywood with Oscar winners Ben Affleck and Matt Damon expressing interest in making a movie about one such former NCAA athlete, Anthony Robles.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have been Hollywood’s biggest stars for almost three decades. They have now started a new venture, a new production company named ‘Artists Equity’. They recently released their first movie ‘Air’, which was a movie based on arguably the greatest NBA star ever, Michael Jordan.

During an interview with CBS, both Hollywood A-listers mentioned that there are movies coming soon after the success of ‘Air’. Affleck mentioned that they are set to work on another project with Amazon Studios. This time they will be focussing on a wrestling athlete.

He said, “We’re just getting rolling on working again with Amazon, to do the story of a wrestler named Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg and won a National Championship for Arizona State”

When asked about whom they are considering casting in that movie, Affleck said they were happy with the actors that they have chosen for their upcoming project. “We always hire the very best performers. And in this case, I can say every single person that’s been cast so far, I think, is the very absolute best choice.”

Who is Anthony Robles?

Anthony Robles is recognized as one of the greatest NCAA wrestlers to ever grace the mat. He was born without his right leg. But that didn’t seem to stop him from pursuing a career in wrestling. He denied using his prosthetic leg when he was only three years old. He has become an inspiration for many people with the same predicament.

Anthony Robles amassed a mind-boggling record of 96 wins and zero losses in his junior and senior years during high school. He also became a national champion as a senior. However, when he moved to Arizona State University and started wrestling there, he signed off with a record of 122 wins and 23 losses. He ultimately became the NCAA champion in the 2010-11 season.

Robles was not just an excellent wrestler, but also a role model for people all over the world. His lack of a limb did not stop him from becoming a successful athlete. He is now coaching the next generation of NCAA wrestlers back from where he started, Mesa High School in Arizona.
