Max Holloway’s recent comments on Ilia Topuria’s online antics have left Joe Rogan and the MMA fandom clutching their sides. The newly crowned ‘BMF’ champion was a guest on the JRE MMA Show episode no. 155 where he revealed the strange interaction he had with Topuria on social media.

The conversation between Rogan and Holloway touched upon the current title picture in the UFC’s featherweight division. When Rogan pointed out that ‘El Matador’ wasn’t keen on granting Alexander Volkanovski, the man he took the title from, a rematch, Holloway responded by exclaiming, “Ilia didn’t wanna fight anyone in the top f*king 15 brother.”

This prompted the podcast host to inquire who Topuria had in mind for his next fight, which led to the full ‘story’ being revealed by ‘Blessed’. He stated, ““Himself? I don’t know! Motherf*ker wants to fight himself, what the hell is going on bro? …. So we had a bible verse off on Twitter, so everyone’s saying like 10-8 Holloway because of the verse I used against him and I don’t say nothing, that’s all I say. And he writes like a freaking paragraph bro to me, I didn’t even read it, that’s how long it was.”

And the story didn’t end there, as the ‘BMF’ further went on to share that, “It was like an angry girlfriend text, like my wife don’t even text me like that… I read the first and then I was like, I’m not reading this bro, what the hell is going on with you.”

Holloway’s storytelling skills led to Rogan bursting out into laughter and the same response was also highlighted by the fans in the comments, albeit, in their own way. Here’s a look at what the fandom had to say about Ilia Topuria’s “angry girlfriend” rant!

Max Holloway gets dubbed as “the best” by the fans after hilarious Ilia Topuria story

Fans pointed out that in the past Ilia Topuria has turned down multiple contenders for a title shot for various reasons but has also indicated that he wants to fight Conor McGregor, who has been out of action since 2021 and hasn’t competed as a featherweight in the UFC since 2015

“Illia – Volk doesn’t deserve a rematch, Ortega hasn’t done enough to get a title shot, Also Illia – I wanna fight Connor”

Others rallied behind Holloway as they claimed that he is still one of the best fighters in the 145 lbs division

“Brother.. the best is blessed”

While some claimed that Topuria’s “angry girlfriend” rant was actually an invitation for the two men to brawl in the opening 10 seconds of their possible clash, a move that Max Holloway used to finish Justin Gaethje at UFC 300

“Ilia said what you did in the last 10 seconds, let’s do it in the first 10 seconds”

Fans also claimed that Holloway’s storytelling skills may be influenced by watching too much ‘Sketch’, but it’s unclear what they meant by the comment

“Max been watching too much sketch”

Many pointed out that Holloway was using the word ‘brother’ a lot in the podcast adding another humorous layer to the interaction

“How many “brothers” were dropped on this pod?”

Some even used Holloway’s own words to refer to the ‘BMF’ as a ‘Blessed Man Forever’ turning the original abbreviation into something more wholesome
