Jon Anik roots for MAX Holloway in MMA-Boxing crossover match

Conor McGregor, Francis Ngannou, and Nate Diaz endeavored in the realm of boxing to test their mettle. The everlasting MMA vs. boxing debate might be one of the factors why MMA are so hell-bent on fighting with seasoned boxers. McGregor’s bout with Floyd Mayweather was the stepping stone for the MMA fighters to enter into the world of boxing.

Similarly, following ‘Mystic Mac,’ Nate Diaz became the second entrant to step into the boxing arena. Diaz’s bout against Jake Paul took center stage as the headline event on DAZN’s boxing card. Nevertheless, despite Diaz’s determined efforts, he was defeated by Paul via a unanimous decision.

Francis Ngannou was the latest entrant to boxing but he was defeated by Tyson Fury through unanimous decision despite showcasing a masterclass. It must be noted that none of these MMA fighters predominantly practiced boxing. So who should go into boxing from MMA? Jon Anik thinks that UFC should send Max Holloway to the arena.

“I just hope if there are crossovers(boxing) affairs going forward, then at least we send the right mma guys in there. Let’s send Max Holloway in there to try to box some world champions’ faces.” Said Jon Anik. He emphasized that since Max Holloway is one of the best boxers in the UFC, he should be the one to fight against Pro boxers. Surprisingly Sean O’Malley is one such fighter who is interested in a boxing crossover.

Sean O’Malley is the latest addition to MMA-Boxing crossover scene

Adding an extra layer of fascination to the mix, Sean O’Malley, who clinched the UFC championship back in August with a second-round TKO win over Aljamain Sterling, has made it clear that he aspires to emulate the path of fighters who have crossed over into the realm of boxing. O’Malley has openly advocated for a match-up against the esteemed boxer, Gervonta Davis.

While having a conversation about the event O’Malley said “The thing about Devin Haney is like, I’m not trying to throw shade or anything but I’ve legit literally never watched him box one fight ever,”I didn’t even really know who he was until more recent — like him, Gervonta, there’s a guy like named Shakur [Stevenson].”
