Justin Gaethje is in the hunt for a lightweight title match against Islam Makhachev. After Justin Gaethje’s win over Rafael Fiziev at UFC 286, he mentioned that he did not have much time left in his MMA career. As such, he’s looking to fight for the title.

Meanwhile, a callout from former featherweight champion Max Holloway for a BMF fight has surely ruffled some feathers for Gaethje. But the fans aren’t too keen on that fight as they predict a grim fate for ‘Blessed’ on social media. Let’s take a look at what’s going on.

Recently, the BMF champion weighed in on his chances of fighting for the lightweight title against Islam Makhachev. However, the UFC is looking to set up Charles Oliveira, who pulled out of UFC 294 due to an injury. With that in mind, Justin Gaethje stated that he has no problems in waiting to earn his title shot. He said, “If they want to put [Charles] Oliveira in there, then I fight [Islam Makhachev] in September [or next October]… I have no issues waiting.”

Meanwhile, Max Holloway called out Justin Gaethje. He wants to fight the BMF champion in a bid to put on a show for the fans. “If you change your mind bratha, how about one for the fans? #BMF,” said ‘Blessed’. However, the fans cannot picture the Hawaiian fighter winning the fight and they expressed their thoughts on social media.

Fans predict a grim fate for Holloway against ‘The Highlight’

The fans claimed that Max Holloway would be an easy fight for Justin Gaethje. It would not be wise for ‘Blessed’ to step up to fight ‘The Highlight’. Moreover, they also believe that Gaethje can easily change the career trajectory of his opponents.

Nevertheless, Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje are big names in the fight business. Some people think that this will be a money fight. However, they do not see Holloway winning the fight.

“That’s the money fight right there!”

“Lord jesus, gathje might crack Max’s chin like the way he did with Tony, I wanna see that fight but man I also don’t”

Some fans also pointed out that Max Holloway has a relatively small physical build than Justin Gaethje. Additionally, they also believe that the former featherweight champion is entering the twilight stages of his career. Meanwhile, Gaethje is still in his prime. However, some fans are confident that Holloway could overcome ‘The Highlight’ if he could put enough pressure on the BMF champion.

“Max is just too small and has taken way too much damage in his Career. Not to mention that His career is definitely “rounding third” at this point. Justin is basically still in his prime.”

“Max all day. Justin can’t handle with pressure fighters.”

While this sounds like an exciting proposition for a fight, it remains to be seen what the UFC thinks of it. Both fighters are huge draws and have a knack for putting on exciting fights. However, it seems unlikely that Justin Gaethje would deviate from his ultimate goal of fighting for the title.
