As we inch closer to UFC 300, several new fight rumors are popping up. While there is no word on whether the promotion’s biggest star Conor McGregor will make his return, a rumor about a potential matchup between Max Holloway and BMF champion Justin Gaethje has gained traction. However, fans are not in favor of this fight as they expressed their concern for ‘Blessed’.

Max Holloway recently amassed a two-fight winning streak after his third loss to Alexander Volkanovski last year. He’s looking to get back into title contention after a couple of dominating performances. However, various MMA outlets have reported that MMA legend Chael Sonnen claims that there are other plans for the former featherweight champion. Let’s take a look at the development of this situation.

So far, UFC CEO Dana White has announced three fights for UFC 300, which will feature Jiri Prochazka, Aljamain Sterling, and Bo Nickal. Now, ‘MMA Uncensored‘ has reported that former UFC star and title contender Chael Sonnen claims that the promotion is looking to set up another fight. The fight will be for the BMF title, as Justin Gaethje is touted to defend his title against featherweight veteran Max Holloway.

Not too long ago, ‘Blessed’ expressed his urge to fight for the BMF title. He called out Justin Gaethje a couple of months ago and asked him if he was willing to fight him for the fans. Now it seems like Max Holloway might get his wish. Nevertheless, many fans did not like the idea of this fight. Let’s see what they had to say.

Fans raise concerns for ‘Blessed’

The fans do not think fighting Justin Gaethje would be a wise decision for Max Holloway. They think that he might actually go to sleep in this fight. If the UFC books this fight, fans believe that it will just be for the money.

“Max actually might get slept in this fight”

“Dude Justin is going to mrdr him. this is such a money grab fight”

Some fans were also worried about the well-being of Max Holloway. They mentioned that they don’t want to see ‘Blessed’ get hurt by ‘The Highlight’.

“They really want to tear Max’s chin huh. I don’t like this for him at all”

“Plz no!!! I don’t want max eating those punches. Gaethje might hurt him”

Moreover, most fans came down to the significant difference in size between Holloway and Gaethje. They believe that ‘The Highlight’s power and size difference could come into play and ‘Blessed’ might get knocked out in the second round.

“I think this is the fight were I actually think Max will end up getting knocked out like Justin is just so much bigger and his power is just other worldly so if Justin lands clean I can see him knocking out Max by round 2 (obviously don’t want max to lose but I can’t see him winning this unfortunately.”

The fans surely don’t want two fighters with considerable physical mismatches to go head-to-head inside the Octagon. Some believe that Max Holloway should be getting a shot at the featherweight title. However, it depends on what the UFC and fighters decide. We will have to wait and see how things shape up as we inch closer to UFC 300.
