Max Holloway will face Justin Gaethje for the ‘BMF’ title in a matter of days but is his attention shifting somewhere else now? UFC 300 is going to be the promotion’s biggest event to date and it seems like Dana White has given a free hand to its fighters to decide what they want to wear. Interestingly, four fighters are going to have their custom kit ahead of their clash and this includes Holloway as well.

“Blessed” has always been very vocal about supporting his homeland, Hawaii. This time, the former featherweight champion has decided to don a Hawaiian floral design for his match against Gaethje. Venum designers researched Holloway’s roots and used the colors of Hawaii’s flag — red, white, and blue — to design a floral motif authentic to Holloway and his culture.

Max Holloway’s custom gear speaks about his Hawaiian story but seems like a particular fighter has a problem with it. Former double-weight champion, Conor McGregor reacted to the custom gear with a laughing emoji on a social media post by ‘TheMacLife’ on Instagram and seems like this random expression by ‘Notorious’ irked Holloway.

While having a conversation with the media, Holloway hit back at McGregor with a question about their last fight.“First things first, you gotta ask Conor what he’s laughing about! Go ask him! Go ask him what he’s laughing about. Hopefully, he can get lucky charm shots or something!” said Holloway. ‘Blessed’s hilarious response to McGregor got a laughing expression from the MMA community.

Fans amused by Max Holloway’s retort to Conor McGregor
Conor McGregor beat Max Holloway when they fought back in 2013. ‘Notorious’ won the bout by way of unanimous decision but Holloway had always inferred that he got lucky with it and now the former featherweight champion has reminded him about it. Fans took to Instagram to express their opinion on Holloway’s response. Some of the comments by the fans are as follows.

Starting off, a fan reminded McGregor that he has been on a hiatus since 2021 and Holloway has been competing under the promotion during the tenure and a rematch between them would be disastrous for ‘Notorious’ – “Max will beat Connor badly if they fight again.”
Another found Holloway’s dig at McGregor’s Irish lineage funny – “Lucky charm shorts is hilarious.”

For a guy who rarely loses his cool, did Holloway seem a little offended by McGregor’s reaction? Could it be the weight cut making the former champion a little touchy about things in general? Holloway and McGregor have always been courteous to each other and publicly shown respect, but UFC 3oo would be the perfect stage to reignite the rivalry. Is Holloway looking for more than just the BMF belt? We’ll see soon enough.
