The star, with his great fighting talent, unbothered attitude, and trash-talking, was able to gather a lot of eyeballs on him. This is one particular reason why even the top UFC fighters are dying to fight McGregor. One major reason is that a lot of money comes the way of the opponent when McGregor is involved.

Conor McGregor is a brand!

In Rio de Janeiro, Charles Oliveira appeared in a question-and-answer session with fellow Brazilian fighters Alex Pereira, Jose Aldo, and Rafael dos Anjos. The question about McGregor was put to Jose Aldo by a fan. The fan asked Aldo which fighter on the stage could beat the Irishman. ‘Junior’ expressed his fervent belief that all three can defeat ‘The Notorious’.

As per the report of MMA Fighting, dos Anjos said, “Conor picks his fights. Like Charles said, everybody wants this fight because it will be lucrative. He picks his fights. When he feels that’s the fight for him, he’ll choose it. We’ll be waiting but we’ll continue fighting in the meantime”.

Further, Oliveira also added his thoughts, “McGregor chickened out a long time ago. Like Rafael said, he handpicks his fights. I think he looks at the guy and thinks ‘I can beat this one,’ and then he signs the contract. He’s right not to fight me because he knows what will happen. Here, ‘Do Bronx’ admitted how he too wants to fight Conor McGregor. However, the privilege of ‘The Notorious’ lets him choose his opponents.

Who will be the next opponent of ‘The Notorious’?

Oliveira further explains how the two-division champion deserves all the hype that he receives from both the media and the UFC. Even though everyone is eagerly awaiting McGregor’s comeback, nothing is finalized as of now. The Irishman still needed to book a fight. He can definitely choose whomever he wants.

However, considering the fact that he has not won any matches in the last three years, ‘Mystic Mac’ needs to be extra careful while choosing his opponent. That’s exactly the point Oliveira was trying to make. ‘Do Bronx’ reinforces that the former champion is no longer the best of all when it comes to fighting. Hence, he is only going to choose someone who he can beat. Nonetheless, the audience needs to wait patiently to find out who Conor McGregor will choose to fight.

"Like many, my journey into the beautiful game began by watching the mesmerizing Lionel Messi, as his impeccable vision on the pitch and role as a playmaker, meticulously calculating the path to goal always amazed me. This fascination with the finer details of soccer strategy naturally extended to my interest in content strategy. However, my zeal for being a soccer content analyst is not only because of Messi's magic, as I am a keen follower of the Becks as well. While in David Beckham, it was a special affinity for his mastery of crosses, passes, and set pieces, in Victoria Beckham, the fashion queen, I find inspiration in how she masterfully navigated the world of aesthetics and brand identity. This unique blend of admiration for both the tactical intricacies of soccer and the world of fashion and entertainment helps me to cover the game from angles that seamlessly balance sport and entertainment. Before joining EssentiallySports, I worked as a content analyst as well. A Master's degree in English and Comparative Literature from a premiere institute has helped me hone my writing skills and given me a unique perspective on the world of sports. Interestingly, besides soccer, I also extensively covered UFC, especially the Joe Rogan podcast. In my free time, I enjoy reading and keeping up with the latest developments in the world of sports.
