There’s no doubt Alex Pereira is one of the most impactful strikers in the UFC right now. He practically saved UFC 303 by stepping in for the main event. His mere presence in the octagon ignites his fans, who erupt with his signature “Chama” chant. Pereira’s talent speaks for itself as he became two- a division sports champion in just 8 fights. While he might have his eye on the Heavyweight division next, his current reign as a champion is undeniable.

A recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience offered a different perspective on the light-heavyweight striking scene. Rogan and his guest were watching an old fight video of Melvin Manhoef dominating his opponent. Reacting to the clip, Rogan said, “ Melvin Manhoef, who weighed like 190 pounds, put out with one punch. Melvin was, if you want to talk about the scariest striker even in MMA, I think it’s Melvin.” Then as the fight reached its climax, Manhoef took his opponent down. That’s when Action Bronson just erupted, “He has kryptonite in that f**king hand.

Nevertheless, Rogan’s support for Pereira doesn’t stop there. Later in the podcast, he throws some serious respect ‘Potatan’s’ way. According to Joe Rogan, Pereira’s already achieved a level that put him on par with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Rogan showers ultimate respect on Alex Pereira

Rogan, a UFC legend since practically the beginning, has serious clout in the fight world. So, when he hypes up a fighter, it’s a big deal. This just happened on his podcast with Action Bronson. Bronson was telling a story about running into Pereira at the airport, and let me tell you, he was spooked! He even compared him to the character Sagat “Street Fighter”.

Moreover, Joe Rogan then tells Bronson that Pereira’s dedication and fighting spirit are unreal. Rogan says, “He’s looking good, he’s the champ, two-division champ. Bro, two-division champ in just a handful of fights in the UFC”. This led to Bronson exclaiming that Pereira is, an “Instant Hall of Famer in my mind…”
