Except for a few big names, it’s no secret that fighter pay isn’t great in MMA. And despite calls from fans and fighters alike, this remains unchanged. After paying for the gym, coaches, nutritionists, and other expenses, fighters are hardly left with anything, making a secondary source of income necessary for sustenance. This can range from breeding Pitbulls like Cody Garbrandt to selling houses like Al Iaquinta. But among all these side hustles, one stands out as the most controversial: OnlyF*ns.

OnlyF*ns is an adult site, where people can sell their exclusive content, which is often explicit in nature, for a subscription fee. Over the years, many female athletes have joined the site, but none could claim the fame that former UFC straw-weight contender Paige VanZant has. The fighter broke the internet after she announced her entry to the platform in 2021, a move that polarized the MMA community like nothing else. Now, two years later, the fighter has made a revelation that is once again setting social media ablaze.

In her recent interview with Barstool Sports’ OnlyStans Show, former UFC fighter Paige VanZant made a shocking revelation. According to the 29-year-old, she made more money through OnlyF*ns than she did in her fighting career. In fact, if VanZant is to be believed, she surpassed the income from her MMA career combined in just 24 hours after joining OnlyF*ns in 2021.

In her own words: ‘Uh, but yes, OnlyF*ns has definitely been my largest source of income. I would say that combined in my fighting career, I think I made more money in 24 hours on OnlyF*ns than I had in my entire fighting career, really combined.’

For those unaware, ’12 Gauge’ was active in the sport of MMA for almost a decade. Making her debut at the age of 19, she eventually moved to the UFC in 2014. Although she never really achieved much success inside the octagon, the fighter was popular among fans for her looks.

This led many to question her credibility as a fighter and accuse the UFC of using her as eye candy. Nevertheless, she was part of 13 professional bouts, 9 of which came to the UFC. Considering this, it’s surprising that a long-time athlete like her can make more money outside of fighting than she did inside the ring.

In the past, many athletes, including veterans like Ben Askren and Francis Ngannou, have been vocal about unfair compensation. This demand doesn’t seem unjust, considering the UFC’s massive revenues and the risky nature of a combat sport like MMA. However, despite all the criticism, Dana White and the company seem firm in their stance. Thus raising the age-old question: Whether fighting is even worth it if a fighter can make more money outside the ring?

Fans react to the revelation.

As expected, this confession by Paige VanZant regarding her income has taken the MMA community by storm. And to no one’s surprise, this has drawn a wide array of comments. Some of the selected few are listed below:

Some users blame men for the rise of Onlyf*ns.

“While not my cup of tea, men are to blame for this.”

“That Low T levels working overtime on these simps.”

“I don’t blame women who profit from weak men. Why wouldn’t they. I’d profit from women if I could figure out how,” another comment read.

Meanwhile, some users went all out with their moral policing.

“Self respect > money”

“Sold her soul.”

“I hope her soul was worth it.”

And one user also has a warning for the former fighter.

Overall, the reaction seems to be quite hostile towards Paige VanZant. But this isn’t surprising, given the controversial nature of OnlyF*ns. Regardless of the comments, Van Zant seems to be minting some serious dollars, and it doesn’t look like she is going to stop anytime soon.
