“Dana, What’s wrong with the UFC man, Give me the belt,” roared Khamzat Chimaev after nearly breaking Robert Whittaker’s jaw in the UFC 308 co-main event. The Chechen superstar has been with the UFC for quite some time and boasts an impeccable record of fourteen victories and zero losses. Many have tried to derail “Borz” from his path, but they have all failed miserably. It now appears to be time for the promotion to consider Chimaev for the middleweight belt seriously and a UFC insider has come forward to emphasize that ‘Borz’ should just fight the winner of UFC 312.
While conversing with his audience on his YouTube channel, former middleweight champion Michael Bisping was reviewing fans’ wishlists and predictions for 2025. During this, he came across a bold prediction from a fan stating that Khamzat Chimaev will fight three times next year. Laughing it off, Bisping emphasized that it might be a little bit difficult for the undefeated warrior to fight three times in a year considering his health and emphasized that Chimaev deserves the title shot, “That’s what we want to see from Khamzat Chimaev. Of course, what he did last year—choking Robert Whittaker the way that he did, smashing the teeth, just demolishing him, just destroying him, right? Without any pushback. No offense, Rob, you’re the man,” said Bisping.
He further added, “It was impressive, but Khamzat’s strength of schedule is kind of what’s holding him back. Okay, so to fight three times against Sean Strickland—we all want to see that one—and against Dricus Du Plessis, of course, that would be a title fight if Sean or Dricus, depending on who wins that…What am I saying? They’re fighting in Australia!”

Michael Bisping emphasized that the promotion has shelved Khamzat Chimaev for a while now and it’s time for the UFC CEO Dana White to fulfill his promise of giving the Chechen warrior a shot at the middleweight title. Back in 2023, the UFC head honcho promised Kamaru Usman and Khamzat Chimaev that the winner of their clash at UFC 294 would earn a title shot at the 185 lbs belt.
In addition, Khamzat Chimaev has been calling for a title fight for years now, since his welterweight days. It must be noted that the UFC might not be in haste to consider ‘Borz’ as a championship contender specifically because the fighter is prone to various diseases that halt his progression. Regardless, Michael Bisping is not the only UFC insider who is awestruck by Khamzat Chimaev.

Daniel Cormier believes Khamzat Chimaev has earned his middleweight title shot
‘Bobby Knuckles’ is arguably one of the scariest fighters in the middleweight division. However, when you are Khamzat Chimaev, you just don’t care. Chimaev’s amazing 1st round victory against the former middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker was impressive for as long as the fight lasted. Ahead of their clash, the MMA community including some of the influential voices within the promotion expected Whittaker to hand Chimaev his first-ever defeat but ‘Borz’ had a different game plan. So, when Daniel Cormier witnessed such a masterclass at UFC 308, he was just flabbergasted.
While having a conversation on his YouTube handle, Cormier emphasized that Chimaev should be awarded the title fight next time, “Khamzat Chimaev earned himself a title shot, or at least he should have,” Cormier said. “He submitted Robert Whittaker in the first round. First round! Went across the octagon, double-legged him, took him down, choked him, and broke his jaw. Broke his jaw! With a squeeze from a rear-naked choke,” said Cormier.

He further added, “It was nuts to see him do that to a guy that, was the generation before him, was one of the guys. Robert Whittaker for a long time has been one of the guys. When he wasn’t the champion he was ranked No. 1, or No. 2. Chimaev is ranked 12th right now. He went and beat him in the first round.”
As of now, nothing has been announced by the promotion but it is a near certainty that the promotion will throw Khamzat Chimaev at the winner of the UFC 312 clash between Dricus Du Plessis and Sean Strickland. Wouldn’t you agree that’s the right move to make?
