The UFC 307 is just a few days away, and the fans are waiting to witness Alex Pereira defend his title for the third time in 2024. However, he might be up against his toughest challenge to date in Khalil Rountree Jr. The 34-year-old is currently on a roll in the division with five consecutive victories under his belt. His recent run of form and his brutal power have made him a favorite for many experts, including Michael Bisping.

The former champion even termed ‘The War Horse’ as the best striker in the light-heavyweight division who might cause an upset. But does ‘The Count’ really feel that Alex Pereira will lose at UFC 307? Let us find out.

Looking at Alex Pereira’s recent run, it’s tough to rule him out of his next fight. At UFC 300 and UFC 303, the Brazilian knocked out his opponents in the first and second rounds, respectively. Now, as he prepares for the next fight, it seems that the MMA world is currently divided with their favorites. Two of the most elite fighters in the division will be locking horns, and the fans can expect nothing short of fireworks.

To discuss the upcoming clash, former UFC champion Michael Bisping took to his YouTube channel. Surprisingly, in one of his previous conversations with Anthony Smith, ‘The Count’ seemed to have picked the challenger as the favorite. According to Bisping, Rountree Jr. can knock Pereira out because of his brutal power. He also has good wrestling skills, which might make it tough for the Brazilian to line him up for his famous left hook. But in his latest video, he reminded the 34-year-old that it is not going to be easy against the champion.

Bisping said, “Yeah of course Khalil’s got knockout power and he’s capable of knocking out Pereira. I just don’t think it will happen. Pereira has god given punching power it is ridiculous the power that he has and you have got that or you haven’t.”  There’s no doubt that the Brazilian has the power that very few fighters in the UFC have. However, it wouldn’t be a surprise if we see ‘Poatan’ resound to wrestling when he takes on ‘The War Horse.’

Stephen Thompson backs Alex Pereira to win his fight at UFC 307

There are very few fights in the UFC that have caught the attention of the fans the way the upcoming light-heavyweight clash has. While there was a lot of speculation among the fans when the fight was announced, it has finally gained momentum. After closely comparing the recent run of the fighters, there’s hardly anything to choose between the two. Pereira is walking into the fight after successfully defending his title twice. Rountree Jr., on the other hand, has been dropping his opponents left, right, and center, with four out of his five victories coming via a knockout.

With the margin of error so less, we need experts to help us pick the favorite. This is exactly what Stephen Thompson did during his conversation with ‘Submission Radio.’ ‘Wonderboy’ shut down all claims surrounding the fight and said, “I think the best right now, is the thing is he is very very good. Alex is very calm when he is out there fighting, which is very rare to see in this game. He is somebody who stays as calm as he is, even if he is in the heat, even if he is hurt he stays focused on what he has gotta do and he gets it done. I think when it comes to accuracy,  he is on point knocking everybody out with that left hook.”
