UFC legend Michael Bisping once again did his thing and shared a bold and enthusiastic take on the potential rematch between Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira. Following ‘Do Bronxs’s triumphant comeback against Mateusz Gamrot, he expressed his wish to go back and revisit his rivalry with the BMF champion, who now has a title that’s worth fighting for. Both aforementioned lightweights need a big win to stake their claim at yet another title shot. They are ranked #3 and #4 in the division, so according to their standing, it’s a great fight for the fans that will keep their names alive in the title conversation. But there’s another reason why this makes even more sense. Recalling the first time Charles Oliveira and Max Holloway met, Michael Bisping expressed disappointment at the way the fight ended.

Max Holloway vs Charles Oliveira’s initial fight lacked a decisive ending
It was 2015, and featherweight contenders Holloway and Oliveira locked horns, but it was a short affair. Just over a minute into the first round, the Brazilian star would suffer a bizarre loss after a collision on the fence caused a tear in his esophagus. “Yeah, they fought once. It was a weird esophagus injury early in the first round, and Max Holloway was declared the winner. But it wasn’t a real fight, and it was at 145 lbs,” Michael Bisping stated on YouTube.
Also, fighting at featherweight and fighting at lightweight are vastly different. According to Michael Bisping, fighting Charles Oliveira at 155 lbs is likely going to be a tougher challenge for Max Holloway than it was at 135 lbs. He further stated, “Remember, the 155 lbs version of Charles Oliveira slaps a little bit different.” Citing next year’s White House event as the perfect place for the rematch, the Hall of Famer added, “You never know. Maybe we see that at the White House. Max Holloway’s certainly down for it as well.”

There are a few reasons why Charles Oliveira vs Max Holloway 2 makes sense to be added at the White House. However, the plans for this event have yet to be set in motion. Nevertheless, Dana White seems to be on board with the idea of this fight.
Dana White is open to a rematch
If fans cannot get a superfight more frequently than they do right now, Dana White can at least give them some exciting matchups between two of the most exciting fighters. And he seems to believe that Charles Oliveira vs. Max Holloway qualifies as one of those fights. The CEO is aware of the fanfare surrounding this rematch, but the UFC is not in a position to give that fight a green light just yet.

“Yeah, I mean, that is obviously a fight that would be incredible… to see them two [Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira] again,” Dana White stated during the final Contender Series press conference last Tuesday. “We don’t have anything… We talked about it [the rematch] today, though.” While nothing is confirmed yet, the fight is still up for consideration, which is good news for the fans.
Max Holloway had previously mentioned that he had issues with what Charles Oliveira had to say about his loss in their initial encounter. So, there’s already a storyline for this rivalry. What do you think? Should this fight happen at the White House? Drop your comments below.
