Michael Bisping retired from UFC in 2017. Ever since then, he has been working as a commentator and also has his own podcast on the side. However, it was in an interview with Helen Yee that he revealed his thoughts on how the Welterweight division can go forward.

Bisping mentioned that the UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman was in need of a fight after having triumphed over every possible contender.

As a result, he gave a possible solution. “I mean Leon Edwards, if he beats Nate Diaz, that has to happen for sure. It’s long overdue. Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson if he beats Gilbert Burns, which isn’t an easy fight,” Bisping said.

He revealed that he really liked Usman and got a high off his fighting abilities. Bisping lauded Usman’s intelligence and nature while adding that ‘Wonderboy’ had the best chance of beating him. It wasn’t undue praise, as Usman really has a hold of the division.

He hasn’t lost a fight in the UFC, and since losing his second professional fight, he hasn’t lost any. Moreover, Usman recently defended his belt against Jorge Masvidal (for the second time), Gilbert Burns, and Colby Covington.

Michael Bisping raves on about Stephen Thompson’s performance against Geoff Neal

Meanwhile, Bisping talked about one of Thompson’s many incredible displays. “Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson has got such a unique style, and if you look at that fight he had against Geoff Neal, I was blown away.

“I was calling that fight, I was ringside, and I couldn’t believe the display of technique and athleticism that I was watching,” he said.

Additionally, Bisping also added that he doesn’t believe that anybody can beat Thompson with the form that he is in. The American fighter is known for his spectacular displays and clean striking. If he can win the welterweight belt, he will surely go down as one of the best to ever do it.
