Michael Chandler made a grand callout of Conor McGregor after his definitive win at UFC 274. Besides his exceptional front kick knockout of Tony Ferguson, Chandler, with his Octagon interview, showed that he might be the most electrifying man in the UFC at the moment.

In his callout, ‘Iron’ also targeted the main event winner at UFC 274. Though the entire world moved upside down from the former Bellator champion’s performance, it didn’t impress Dustin Poirier. ‘El Diamanté‘ was critical of Chandler for not mentioning his name, especially in the post-fight interview, where he was asked about fighters who have the best chance to knock off Charles Oliveira.

In an interview with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, Chandler talked about Dustin Poirier’s reactions when he first burst into the UFC space.

“I was completely disregarded and pushed aside whenever I came into the organization,” Chandler said. “[He] completely acted, though, as I didn’t deserve to be where I was and so maybe it’s a little bit more of a personal issue.”

Chandler also questioned Poirier’s stardom, despite having two of the biggest PPV (UFC 257 & UFC 264) draws last year, “Is Dustin a draw?”

‘Iron’ added, “He’s the number two guy, ranked number 2, now… I don’t know how active he’s gonna be. But I did see that he tweeted that I was saying everybody else’s name but his. As if I was, maybe didn’t want to fight him because of technical reasons or whatnot. But… I forgot about him.”

At the UFC 257 post-fight press conference, Poirier had presented that Michael Chandler doesn’t deserve a chance to fight for the UFC lightweight title. Also, he didn’t like the idea of fighting ‘Iron’.

Will Michael Chandler get the Conor McGregor fight?

The 36-year-old is having one of the craziest runs in the UFC. In his short 4-fight career, thus far, he had almost knocked out Charles Oliveira to win the UFC lightweight championship, gave a Fight of the Year performance, and knocked out the ever-resilient Tony Ferguson. Fans would do well to not forget the spectacular debut against Dan Hooker on Fight Island.

And to top all that, the sport’s biggest star, Conor McGregor, has mentioned his name in high regard. Chandler caught McGregor’s attention with his complete package at UFC 274.

Though both McGregor and Chandler have many options, a contest between these two would be a treat of the highest level. Both of them can carry themselves on the microphone and know how to entertain fans inside the Octagon.

McGregor is still recovering from the foot injury. However, Chandler himself got some injuries both before and in between the fight. Hence, it might be a blessing in disguise for ‘Iron’ and perhaps he would make his return to the Octagon against ‘The Notorious.’
