Michael Chandler is a former Bellator lightweight champion who transitioned into the UFC. The lightweight, who has only four fights in the promotion, is currently ranked #5 in the lightweight division. After his stunning KO win at UFC 274, ‘Iron’ delivered a stupendous call out to megastar Conor McGregor.

Almost a month after that fight, Chandler spoke to TMZ and opened up about his interest in fighting the Irishman. He said, “There’s so many different things attached to a Conor fight. Everybody talks about the payday, the red panty night, and all that kind of stuff. For me, I just want the biggest stage possible against the biggest competitor that the sport has ever seen.”

Chandler gave props to McGregor and called him a “combat sports icon,” while mentioning how rare it is for people like him to exist. ‘Iron’ added, “There’s a lot of big fights that Conor could take, a lot of big names. But… I would love to be the other guy on the other side of the octagon when the cage door closes and then go out there and make something special.”

When asked about what one could expect from the fight, Chandler said that it would be anything but boring. He also added that this bout would be “epic.”

‘Iron’ also mentioned the possible weight class at which the fight could take place. The lightweight contender spoke about McGregor’s bulk and said he would be ready to fight at 170. He pointed out that if the fight couldn’t be booked at 170, he wouldn’t mind cutting to 155.
