‘The Iron’ had a long layover before he returned to action at UFC 303, as he has been waiting for the McGregor clash for a year now. The MMA community also seemed concerned for Chandler as this would have been his first time fighting at ‘170’ lbs weight clash. Regardless, let us have a look at what’s the walkaround weight for the shredded lightweight.

How much does Michael Chandler weigh?

Well, from the looks of how jacked Chandler looks. It would not be a problem for ‘Iron’ to cut ‘170 lbs. Michael Chandler walks a weight zone of 180-190 lbs when he is not competing, which is slightly bigger than their intended clash weight zone.

While in conversation with MMA Junkie, Chandler confessed, “I’m walking around almost 190 right now. I’m not getting fluffy or fat, and I’m always around that 185-190 clip. So 170, for me, would be a dream come true.”

He further added, “I don’t like making 155. The only reason I can make 155 is just good, old-fashioned 12 weeks of diet, exercise, discipline, and a little bit of dehydration at the end, so why not do 170? I still think I’m bigger than Conor at this point, even with his regimen that he’s been on.”

Cutting weight would not be a problem for Chandler as he walks around  ‘180 lbs. However, were they both ready to fight in the welterweight division after such a long hiatus? Let’s find out.

What weight class was Conor McGregor fighting Chandler in?

Both Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor were about to clash with each other in the welterweight division. McGregor initially claimed that they would be clashing in the welterweight division on January 1st when he was announcing their fight on International Fight Week. Regardless, were they ready for the fight at ‘170 lbs?’

Both of the fighters walk around with a weight that is much more than their official division. Chandler walks around with a natural weight of 190-180 lbs while on the other hand Conor McGregor walks around with 200-220 lbs. There was a time when the former dual-weight champion was walking around with a weight of ‘205’ lbs. Hence it would not have been that difficult for the fighter to cut ‘170’ lbs. Regardless, the doubts still persist as the fans hold their breath in anticipation of a speedy date confirmation.
