UFC Welterweight Miguel Baeza is a rising star in the company and he’s beginning to shape up as a contender. Baeza is fresh off an arm-triangle submission win over Takashi Sato at UFC Fight Night: Smith vs Clark. The bout was the co-main event for the aforementioned fight card, and it’s clear that the UFC is high on the hype train.
Miguel Baeza has three straight wins in three UFC outings and he appears to be a huge problem for the welterweight line-up. Not to mention, he’s showcased a new facet to his offensive arsenal with a high-level ground game. It seems as though a run-in towards a UFC title shot could be in his future.

Additionally, ‘Caramel Thunder’ who trains out of the Florida outfit MMA masters had plenty to say about his new home. MMA masters have gained notoriety as of late in the MMA world after they began training former interim champion, Colby Covington. However, it’s clear that the gym has no shortage of top-tier up-and-coming talent as well.
Moreover, Baeza had plenty of positive things to say about his controversial teammate in ‘Chaos’ Covington. Miguel Baeza explained that Colby Covington’s reputation for being a negative force in the gym was over the top.

“Colby Covington, he’s a good guy,” Baeza said. “I know that everybody’s gonna get on him with all the stuff he’s saying. He’s a different person in the gym. He’s only pushed us to get better.”
Covington has certainly garnered a reputation for being a handful while training in the gym. His long tenure at American Top Team [ATT] was cut short due to dust-ups that crept up. He had publically trash-talked fighters like Amanda Nunes, Dustin Poirier, and Jorge Masvidal which led to his exit from the gym based in Coconut creek.

It seems as though ‘Chaos’ Covington is pouring more time into training during his stay at MMA masters. Not to mention, the gym atmosphere seems conducive to building new-age stars like Baeza. The welterweight division is full of exciting prospects, and Miguel Baeza is certainly an entrant in that mix.
