The reigning UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is arguably one of the greatest fighters in the history of professional fighting. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has always been the more dominant fighter in all his fights and has no losses under his belt at the UFC.

Usman has defended his welterweight title five times, against some of the best fighters, the UFC has to offer. The Nigerian holds the record for the most consecutive wins in UFC Welterweight history. After his recent win against Colby Covington, the champion showed interest in taking on Canelo Alvarez in a boxing match.

In an episode of his podcast show, ‘Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson,’ the boxing legend gave Usman a warning before stepping into the boxing ring against Canelo Alvarez. He told Joe Rogan, “he’s (Usman) is going to feel some pain.”

Tyson added,” the lesson I learned in fighting, is that it’s not a tough man’s sport, it’s a thinking man’s sport. And that a tough man’s going to get really hurt in this sport. He’s (Usman) going to get really hurt in this game. Tough guy, the guy everybody’s scared of is going to get hurt in this boxing game. Because this is all about thinking.”

Canelo Alvarez is a multiple world champion in four weight classes. He is widely regarded as the greatest boxer in the sport right now. Whereas, Usman comes from a wrestling background and has improved his striking skills over the years.

What’s next for Kamaru Usman: Will he take on Canelo Alvarez?

Kamaru Usman hinted at a boxing match against Canelo Alvarez in November and seemed confident in the fight taking place someday. However, there have been no talks about the boxing match in the past two months.

To add to that, Canelo Alvarez didn’t show any interest in taking on the UFC champion and is only focused on building his legacy as a professional boxer.

Usman has been sidelined from fighting after incurring injuries at UFC 268, and on his return, he will most likely take on Leon Edwards, or the pay-per-view king himself, Conor McGregor.
