The renowned Indonesian province, Bali, is known for its nightlife, where tourists go to have a good time. However, for one Russian tourist, a night of partying took a dangerous turn when his inappropriate advances toward a woman put him face-to-face with a local MMA fighter, who delivered a harsh lesson in respect

According to a report by The New York Post, a viral video began circulating in Bali showing a local MMA fighter, Belda Brig Sando, choking a tourist unconscious. While the Balinese fighter held the man in a chokehold, he shouted, “Respect locals. Don’t touch the girls like that.”

The report further mentioned that Sando kept the choke locked in long enough to render the man unconscious, as locals gathered around watching the incident unfold. After some time, the fighter released him. When the drunk Russian tourist regained consciousness, Sando confronted him again and told him to respect the locals. The man slurred in response, “I got it, I got it. I understand, bro. I’m from Russia.”

Following the incident in Bali, Belda Brig Sando opened up about how everything unfolded. According to the Balinese MMA fighter, the drunk tourist had been walking in the middle of the road, behaving erratically, stopping strangers, and even slapping people on the head. But when the man inappropriately touched one of his friends, Sando decided to step in, and the situation escalated into a fight.

“This guy was drunk, touching people, walking in the middle of the road, stopping strangers, and even slapping heads like it’s normal,” Sando wrote online. “No one said anything until he touched one of my friends. That’s when I stepped in, and it turned into a fight. What I did may not have been right, and for that I apologise. I’m human, sometimes emotions take over. But I didn’t start it. He crossed the line first.”

To shed more light on women’s safety, the NY Post’s report further suggests that Bali has launched a campaign to educate tourists about respecting local boundaries.

While such steps aim to improve safety on the island, there has also been another instance where a man attempted to rob a UFC fighter, an encounter that turned out to be a very bad experience. For the robber, of course.

MMA fighter Polyana Viana viciously beat a robber in Brazil

Brazilian UFC fighter Polyana Viana is known for being very violent inside the cage. However, when a robber tried to steal her phone, she didn’t hold back. Back in 2019, ‘Dama de Ferro’ was waiting for an Uber ride back home in a neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro when, suddenly, a man approached her. Sensing something was wrong, Viana reached for her cellphone, but the man gave her a warning, saying he was armed.

However, the UFC strawweight noticed that the gun looked too soft to be an actual gun, so she threw some strikes at the man and then held him in a rear-naked choke until help arrived.

“When he saw I saw him, he sat next to me,” Viana told MMA Junkie. “He asked me the time, I said it, and I saw he wasn’t going to leave. So I already moved to put my cell phone in my waist. And then he said, ‘Give me the phone. Don’t try to react, because I’m armed.’ Then he put his hand over (a gun), but I realized it was too soft.

“He was really close to me. So I thought, ‘If it’s a gun, he won’t have time to draw it.’ So I stood up. I threw two punches and a kick. He fell, then I caught him in a rear-naked choke. Then I sat him down in the same place we were before and said, ‘Now we’ll wait for the police.’”

Following Viana’s heroics, a picture of the man was released, showing that he was absolutely bruised from her strikes. And the gun? It turned out to be made of cardboard, which he used to scare people. That said, recently she was also rumoured to be in a bar fight, which turned out to be false.
