It has been yet another roller coaster ride of 24 hours in the MMA world and we are here with the latest updates. We will start today’s MMA news roundup with Jorge Masvidal‘s calling for more drug tests for Conor McGregor. Then we will move toward a new opponent challenging Alex Pereira. Finally, we will end it with Dominick Cruz, who bashed Marc Goddard for his over-hyped reaction to Max Holloway‘s victory.

Jorge Masvidal wants the drug committee to recheck Conor McGregor

The comeback of the decade is finally happening as Conor McGregor is about to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29th. McGregor is finally back after USADA hurdles delayed him from competing as they wanted the former dual-weight champion to undergo multiple drug tests before entering the Octagon again.

McGregor has passed several drug tests since then, but Jorge Masvidal seems to have some problems with ‘Notorious’ over the same When asked about his comments on McGregor’s return by the media, ‘Gamebred’ stated that the drug testing agencies should test him more. “I don’t know man, just test that motherfu**er. You know, we’re all here getting tested. USADA has been knocking at my door for fu**ing years. I don’t want to see people not properly get drug tested, you know? ‘Cause if I’m getting drug tested, all should be getting drug tested” said Masvidal.

Conor McGregor has passed all the drug tests by the USADA and the DFSI this year and late last year. Interestingly, McGregor is one of the most tested fighters this year. And while this issue gathers more heat, let’s shift our focus to Alex Pereira and Dana White.

Alex Pereira has a new challenge in front of him

Alex Pereira‘s successful title defense against Jamahal Hill at the UFC 300 was dominant. Pereira finished ‘Sweet Dreams’ in the very first round to clinch the victory. He broke the curse of the light heavyweight division after 2020 and seems like ‘Poatan’ would like to make the heavyweight journey now.

However, it appears that Pereira has some unfinished business in the ‘LHW’ division. Number two light heavyweight ranked fighter, Magomed Ankalaev has called for UFC CEO Dana White to give him a chance to gain the light heavyweight gold. he took to his X handle to say, “@danawhite doesn’t matter how many people I have knock out to get my title shot, I will do it and I will become a CHAMPION, keep lining them up.”

Magomed Ankalaev’s last victory came against Johnny Walker this year and since then the Russian has been demanding a title fight, but there’s seldom any response from the UFC CEO. Nonetheless, for now, let us shift our focus to another relating to UFC 300.

UFC 300 witnessed a moment where it felt as if time had stopped. Max Holloway vs. Justin Gaethje‘s clash was a masterclass. The five-rounder match to defend the ‘BMF’ belt ended with Holloway knocking out Gaethje in the final second of the final round. The entire arena was on ruckus when Holloway dropped Gaethje in his classic moment, including referee Marc Goddard.

Goddard was shocked when he witnessed Holloway knocking out Gaethje in the final round. After the match, the Englishman went on to state that he was not expecting Holloway to do that considering he had won most of the rounds. He further urged the UFC admin to release his mic audio as he screamed for the first time in twenty years of his career.

However, it seems like Goddard’s reaction has somehow triggered the former bantamweight champion, Dominick Cruz. Goddard’s words found their way to social media and it was shared heavily on in one of the social media posts, Cruz commented, “It’s not about you refs. -It’s only about the athletes fighting for their life’s and their [money bag emoji].” Cruz’s comment seems as if it was made without any relevance as fans called him out for it. Nevertheless, what’s your take on Dominick Cruz’s reaction? State your thoughts in the comments below.
