Hello all, and welcome to an arm-biting (yes, you read that right) edition of the daily MMA news roundup. Today, we will start with UFC debutant Igor Severino, who faced severe punishment for his illegal act at UFC Vegas 89. Then we will turn our attention to Rose Namajunas, who failed to impress fans with her winning performance against Amanda Ribas. Finally, we will sum up the daily news compilation with Dana White, who handed a handsome bonus to Andre Lima. Let’s not waste any more time and get right into it!

Igor Severino gets shown the door by Dana White on debut

UFC Vegas 89 witnessed one of the craziest things the sport of MMA has ever seen. The flyweight bout between Igor Severino and Andre Lima took an interesting turn at the beginning of the second round. The former tried to pull off a Mike Tyson as he bit the undefeated ‘Mascote’ on his left biceps. However, the referee did not see it until Lima informed Chris Tognoni that Severino had bitten him.

Before arriving at a decision, Tognoni decided to review the incident with other officials before realizing what had transpired and disqualifying Igor Severino in the process. This may not have been the way the former Contender Series fighter would have wanted his debut to go down, but to make matters worse, Dana White decided to fire him from his promotion. We will have to wait and see how Severino reacts to his firing in the days to come.

Fans call for Trevor Wittman to return as Rose Namajunas’ coach

Rose Namajunas recently broke her 2-fight losing streak and earned her first win in almost two years. The fight went the distance ‘Thug’ earned a unanimous decision victory over Amanda Ribas in the main event of UFC Vegas 89. However, the fans did not seem too impressed with how the former two-time champion performed. They believe that she did not do enough damage to her opponent with her strikes and that the fight should have gone in the Brazilian’s favor.

The fans also claimed that Rose Namajunas is not as exciting as she used to be. They have placed the blame partly on her coach and fiance, Pat Barry. They have urged ‘Thug’ to train exclusively with Trevor Wittman, who was not present in her corner in the fight against Amanda Ribas.

Nevertheless, Namajunas was happy with her win, which might have helped her gain back her confidence. She might need a few more fights under her belt before going for the title for a third time.

Dana White shared a message on Instagram and mentioned that he was aware of the incident and was thinking of handing Lima a bonus of $25,000. However, the tattooing of the bite mark seemingly impressed Dana White as the UFC CEO decided to double the bonus amount and give the Brazilian $50,000. The UFC social media handles shared a post with the picture of the bite mark and captioned it: ‘Bite of the Night’.
