Dustin Poirier is gearing up to fight Saint Benoit Denis at the UFC 299 event. This fight would be important for ‘Diamond’ as it will justify whether he is relevant or irrelevant in the division. Poirier was expecting a legacy fight after getting brutally thrashed by Justin Gaethje. However, a new face was totally unexpected for ‘Diamond’.

In the latest revelation, Poirier has proclaimed that Dana White and the UFC offered Nate Diaz to him. “Conor [McGregor] was never thrown out. We spoke about Nate [Diaz] a little bit, but I don’t think they are bringing him back. I’m not sure I wanna get into that stuff, but no other big names were thrown. I would have liked it to happen but I would like the UFC or Nate to be honest and tell the truth about why the fight fell apart because everybody thinks I pulled out,” said Poirier to Ariel Helwani on ‘The MMA Hour’.

He further added, ” I think, personally, you know, he [Nate Diaz] was playing a bunch against the UFC. They started offering me replacement opponents, telling me he was off the cards. I had a hip problem going on. I let the UFC know, everyone knows, I was gonna fight if it was him, but if there’s a replacement fighter, I’m out.”

Poirier was supposed to fight Diaz at UFC 230, but some miscommunications happened, and their fight fell off. Nonetheless, let us move on to the ever-controversial figure, Colby Covington.

Colby Covington’s injury update after UFC 296

UFC 296 was brutal for Colby Covington. The hype that was built around the fight was insane and the fans were expecting a spectacular match, but what followed was a lackluster performance from the welterweight contender, and now we know why. ‘Chaos’ shared an image of his foot x-ray that showcased that he fractured his foot mid-fight. So, when will be able to witness ‘Chaos’ back in action?

In a conversation with ‘Submission Radio’ Covington asserted that he would be back by summer. ” It’s just a matter of time – 8 to 12 weeks of healing and probably another three to four weeks of getting my footing back and being able to plant off it. You know, you’ve got to think, for the last seven or eight weeks, I’ve been compensating, just walking on my right foot with a boot.”

He further added, “So, I’m going to have to build up some strength on my other hip again and on the other side of my leg, you know, from not having any pressure on it the last two months. So, thankfully, no surgery, and I’ll be back in no time. By summer, for sure, I’ll be back, ready to main event headline, and do the biggest and best business in the UFC.”

Ilia Topuria demands UFC Spain to Dana White

Ilia Topuria is just days away from facing the toughest fight of his career – Alexander Volkanovski for the featherweight title. ‘El ͏Matador’ is confident in his de͏stiny and firmly ͏believes that the featherweight ͏ti͏tle is mea͏nt for him. “Conor McGregor, that’s the fight I’m looking for. He has a great fight with Mike Chandler. If he doesn’t get his ass whooped, he will be a pleasure to share the Octagon with me. Maybe in UFC Spain. We’re both from Europe, and he will be able to go back home and tell his wife, ‘Baby, take out the red panties. Topuria kept us rich.”
