What happened at UFC Vegas 77?

UFC Vegas 77 was a disappointing night at the office for former UFC Bantamweight champion Holly Holm. Despite a large chunk of fans rooting for her in the UFC Vegas 77 main event, Holm fell prey to her opponent, Bueno Silva’s ninja choke. Holm started off the bout with her signature combinations and landed quite a few of them. But, Silva also matched up with most of them, countering Holm’s strikes with her own.

After an evenly matched first round, ‘The Brazilian’ eventually got her rival into a ninja choke early in the second round. Holm was forced to tap out losing the bout.

The night also presented an enthralling co-main event between Jack Della Maddalena and Bassil Hafez. Both fighters showcased superb resistance as the bout went on till its full length. But, it was probably Maddalena’s superior striking that earned him a split decision victory over his opponent.

Here are the results of a few other fights on the card:

  • Francisco Prado def. Ottoman Azaitar by TKO (punches) at 4:05 of Round One
  • Junyong Park def. Albert Duraev by submission (RNC) at 4:45 of Round Two.
  • Norma Dumont def. Chelsea Chandler by unanimous decision
