But since there were a number of happenings, some of you might have missed out on some noteworthy news headlines. Starting off with the former UFC Welterweight, Luke Rockhold’s words about the UFC, we’ll also learn about Israel Adesanya’s distaste toward fighting in his own country of New Zealand. Finally, we’ll take a look at Nate Diaz’s release after getting arrested following his viral brawl in New Orleans, to wrap things up for the day.

Luke Rockhold presents a sour opinion about working under the UFC
After parting ways with the UFC in 2022, Luke Rockhold was awaiting his BKFC debut against the noted, Mike Perry. Amid all this, Rockhold appeared in an online interview with ‘MMA Junkie’ where he revealed how he was nowhere interested to go back to the UFC.
Rockhold revealed how he “was just tired of the UFC and dealing with them.” He also stated, “I needed a break.”

However, Rockhold intended that he might venture into some other promotions. But there was no way he was coming back to Dana White’s promotion. Revealing the reason behind this Rockhold stated, “Getting stuck in that revolving door of the UFC and them picking and choosing for me, it’s like ‘No, it’s not for me. I’ve done that sh*t.”
While a number of other fighters have also made similar claims about the UFC curbing down their freedom, what exactly do you think the UFC does which lures such complaints from fighters?
Israel Adesanya doesn’t want to fight in his home country of New Zealand
UFC fans have seen a lot of fighters dawning the flags of their countries during their bouts. But despite spending his childhood in Nigeria and New Zealand, the latter of which is also his home, the UFC Middleweight kingpin, Israel Adesanya, often sports only the Nigerian flag.
In a recent Q&A session on his social media, ‘Izzy’ revealed that he wouldn’t like to have a bout in New Zealand. ‘The Last Stylebender’ was subjected to this question by one of his fans, whom he answered through his Instagram story. Actually, there were a lot of other things behind Adesanya’s distaste for New Zealand.

Adesanya further spoke about how non-natives are snubbed in New Zealand. He said, “When I’m in New Zealand, sometimes I’ll be… talking to a cab driver and I find out that he was a medical doctor back in Sri Lanka or back in India and then moved over to NZ or the ‘western world’ for ‘better life’ and their qualifications aren’t recognized in the western world.”
Supposedly, Adesanya hadn’t forgotten his early days in New Zealand, where he used to get bullied by the native kids. How do you see this decision by ‘The Last Stylebender’?
Nate Diaz freed on bond after viral New Orleans fight arrest
The viral video of Nate Diaz putting a Jake Paul lookalike to sleep amid a fight led to an arrest warrant being issued a few days back. The New Orleans Police Department placed second-degree battery charges on the former UFC Welterweight. However, Diaz’s representative, Zach Rosenfield, revealed that Diaz had surrendered himself to the New Orleans Police on the morning of 27 April 2023.
However, Diaz applied for a release from custody through a bond that was granted by the court later. Rosenfield also revealed, “Bond has been granted and posted with the full permission from the court to resume travel which includes returning to Stockton today. We appreciate how we were treated by the New Orleans Police Department, the court and their staff.”
