Michael Chandler talks about the magnitude of the Conor McGregor fight

The UFC boss, Dana White’s assurance regarding the return of the UFC icon Conor McGregor for the coveted McGregor vs. Chandler bout, was a relief for fans. Previously, this bout had been put in jeopardy due to McGregor missing the USADA deadline of getting himself enlisted inside their testing pool. On the other hand, the famed former UFC champ-champ Daniel Cormier advised Chandler to never give up on this bout, although the hopes of its materialization looked pretty dim at one stage.

Michael Chandler probably took Cormier’s suggestion as he revealed the importance of this coveted bout to him. Talking to ‘MMA Fighting’, ‘Iron’ stated, “Nobody’s had a stronger strength of schedule right away when they came into the UFC than I have, and that’s what I asked for. That’s what I wanted. That’s what I believe Conor saw in me. He needs a big dance partner to have the biggest fight possible, the biggest stage possible. This is a must-win for both of us.”

Despite being one of the most entertaining fighters on the UFC roster, Chandler currently holds a UFC record of 2-3. Hence, it’s quite evident that a win against McGregor will lift him to new heights in his career. Do you also see the reason behind Chandler’s desperation to win this ‘Notorious’ bout?

Islam Makhachev got into an altercation while trying to gain a champ-champ shot

The UFC had every plan to feature their Lightweight champ, Islam Makhachev at their October card in Abu Dhabi. But looking at the current fights lined up, it might be said that Makhachev will have no suitable opponent in his weight class. Hence, ‘the Dagestani’ recently took to his Twitter and tried to make a matchup for himself to be featured at the October card in Abu Dhabi.

His tweet read, “UFC Abu Dhabi, October 21st. Makhachev vs Edwards. What do you think? @ufc @espnmma”. It’s pertinent to note that Makhachev had chosen the UFC Welterweight kingpin, Leon Edwards, as his rival.

However, he also received a rather taunting reply from his former rival and UFC Featherweight champ, Alexander Volkanovski. ‘Volk’ wrote, “You running brotha, you don’t want this smoke”. But, Makhachev also didn’t showcase any signs of backing down. He quoted ‘The Great’s’ tweet with a caption reading, “Take the fight then”.

Most UFC fans might know that ‘Volk’ and Makhachev had both agreed to a rematch in the future which would be in Makhachev’s territory. Hence, ‘The Dagestani’ choosing Edwards as his rival despite his words, might have triggered this response from Volkanovski. Well, it will definitely be interesting to watch who finally becomes Makhachev’s rival for this card.

Nick Diaz ends up in yet another street fight

There’s a reason behind the Diaz brothers’ nickname, ‘The Stockton Gangsters’. The siblings have a history of getting into notorious street fights. The elder of the siblings, Nick Diaz, probably isn’t over his intimacy towards fighting even with a successful professional fighting career.
