PFL is going hard with their early 2026 cards. In January, the promotion’s biggest star, Usman Nurmagomedov, is scheduled to make his comeback against Alfie Davis, putting his lightweight title on the line. Following that event, the Donn Davis–led company announced two undefeated Dagestani contenders clashing to see who’s best, and MMA fans cannot get enough of it.

In a breaking announcement, the Professional Fighting League’s official account on X posted, “Massive Co-Main Event coming to Dubai! A battle of the undefeated as Ramazan Kuramagomedov takes on Shamil Musaev for the PFL Welterweight World Title.” This massive welterweight clash will take place at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on February 7th. So that’s back-to-back blockbuster announcements for PFL as they head into next year.
For the unversed, both undefeated welterweights will contest for a brand new belt. Shamil Musaev (20-0-1) last defeated Magomed Umalatov in the 2024 PFL Championship and hasn’t fought since. On the other hand, his opponent Ramazan Kuramagomedov (13-0-0) last clashed with Jason Jackson under Bellator, which has currently become one with PFL. So, as with any Dagestani matchup, it will also be interesting to see what their approach looks like.

Will they stay cautious, thinking about the ring rust, or will they charge at each other, knowing they both haven’t fought for a year and might have some vulnerabilities? As the bout looks competitive on all fronts, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say Musaev might get the majority of the votes because of his experience.

Due to these reasons, fans find this matchup extremely entertaining. And as PFL revealed their headlining matchup for the February event, the fans seem hyped, and they have nothing but positive (mostly) things to say about the promotion for making this fight. So let’s see what they have been saying.

Fans are excited about the PFL announcement
One fan chimed in and wrote, “This is an awesome fight.” Indeed, both fighters remain undefeated and yet to be put on skates by any opponent, and what better way to find out who’s the best than fighting against each other? Then the predictions started rolling in as another fan picked, “This is a crazy fight, I got my boy Shamil.” Definitely, ‘The Silent Assassin’ has more experience, but Kuramagomedov’s volume striking might give him some problems.

Still, the support for Musaev continued as another user wrote, “Musaev will make it look easy. KO round 1.” Well, Musaev has 12 wins by KO, and if he comes out with more pressure, he might add another one on February 7th. However, against Kuramagomedov, it won’t be easy. With that in mind, another user wrote, “ok, this card will be a banger. Well done PFL.” And so far, the headliner looks promising, and they might actually deliver with this card.
Then another fan predicted that the winner of this fight might actually go to the UFC, “I mean tbh winner goes to UFC, especially shamil.” And who knows? Dana White might be keeping an eye on this welterweight matchup after not showing interest in Usman Nurmagomedov’s UFC lightweight debut. After that, a fan felt happy to see Musaev back but also concerned about him not fighting this year, “Nice to see Shamil Musaev finally back. He had a real breakthrough in 2024 but no fights in 2025.” Well, his opponent also didn’t fight, so it’s an even playing field.
Lastly, another user interestingly commented this fight to be the biggest fight in PFL while asking, “About time this got booked, one of the biggest fights the PFL could make. Wonder where Thad Jean fits into everything though…” Thad Jean is also an undefeated fighter who had a massive victory against Logan Storley at the PFL World Tournament, and it feels like ‘The Silverback’ will also get his shot once Musaev and Kuramagomedov settle it.
