The rise of the Russian-born fighter Khamzat Chimaev in the division has been sensational. Like a hungry wolf, Chimaev ripped his opponents one by one inside the UFC cage.

Now with five UFC wins under his name, ‘The Lone Wolf’ sits at the number three position in the UFC welterweight division. However, Chimaev has been hungry for the UFC gold ever since his debut in the promotion.

In the process of reaching the pinnacle, ‘Borz’ has called out many top-ranked fighters, including Kamaru Usman, Colby Covington, and even the former lightweight phenom Conor McGregor.

However, UFC president White believes Chimaev is just another situation that slows down with money. In a recent interview with Brett Okamoto, White shared his thoughts on Chimaev’s next fight.

He said, I don’t know yet. We are still working on that. But that’s another one of those situations too where you see. A guy who was hungrier than Khamzat Chimaev like he wanted to fight every weekend.”

“He wanted the 185 pounds belt. He wanted the 205 pounds belt, he wanted a 170 pounds belt. All this stuff, and then you start making some money man. And you know all that stuffs slows down. So I don’t know we got to see what’s next. I don’t have anything for him yet.” White concluded.

Who can be next for Khamzat Chimaev?

In his quest to earn a shot at the UFC welterweight title, Chimaev has called out many top-ranked fighters. He even defeated a contender from the top five of the division recently.

However, finding an opponent for the Russian-born is not an easy task. ‘The Lone Wolf’, with his dominant fighting style and fearless personality, has become a global star in the UFC. Moreover, he is now number three on the roster.

Hence, a fight with the number one contender Colby Covington suits Chimaev. Both the fighters want a shot at the title. However, number two ranked fighter Leon Edwards is already in the picture.
