UFC’s final PPV of 2021 has taken a hit. The UFC women’s flyweight bout between Montana De La Rosa and Maycee Barber was scheduled at UFC 269. However, it was announced this week that De La Rosa wouldn’t be available for the fight as she withdrew, citing an undisclosed injury.

The officials plan to reschedule the matchup for a later date, as they believe that the injury is not that severe.

In her last fight, Montana (12-6-1) secured an impressive TKO win against Ariane Lipski at UFC Fight Night 189. This was her first win by a knockout in her career. Her fight against ‘The Future’  would have been her third in 2021. Earlier in 2021, she fought Mayra Bueno Silva to a majority draw in February.

Maycee was undefeated in her first eight professional fights. She dropped her first fight against Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 246. After suffering an injury, she returned to UFC 258, where she lost to Alexa Grasso. Now, she will have to wait till 2022 to try to build a streak of wins.

Montana De La Rosa and Maycee Barber will miss out on one of the biggest UFC cards

UFC 269, slated to take place on December 12, 2021, will be one of the biggest UFC cards this year.

Two title fights confirmed for the card are the women’s bantamweight fight between Amanda Nunes and Julianna Pena and the men’s flyweight match between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno.

Another title fight that is expected to be added to the card is the highly anticipated matchup between UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier. Ever since Poirier’s win against Conor McGregor at UFC 264, everyone has been expecting a fight between ‘Do Bronx’ and ‘The Diamond’ to take place.
