Despite signing Francis Ngannou in a landmark deal, PFL is not having its best days. With former light heavyweight champion Rob Wilkinson testing positive for a banned substance the other day, 10 PFL stars have popped in the NAC’s drug tests so far this season. With these positive tests, PFL’s current season has taken a huge blow and it has upset Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s manager Ali Abdelaziz.

Abdelaziz took to Twitter to vent his frustrations about the situation. He called for fighters, including his own, to be more responsible with these things.

The 45-year-old is one of the most prominent and influential managers in the game. He has managed several world champions and still manages champions and elite contenders alike. Therefore, Abdelaziz knows the conduct fighters should uphold and the examples they should set.

Ali Abdelaziz vents frustration over positive drug tests in the PFL

Ali Abdelaziz took to Twitter to give his two cents on the situation. The Dominance MMA head was not pleased with ten fighters testing positive and damaging the PFL’s season and reputation.

“Fighters have to be responsible including my fighters they messed up the whole PFL season it’s crazy,” wrote Abdelaziz. He also tagged the PFL in his tweet.

Apart from Wilkinson, other fighters like Bruno Cappelozza, Krzystof Jotko, Alejandro Flores, Thiago Santos, and several others also tested positive. Both Wilkinson and Santos are UFC veterans. What is interesting to note is that Santos got his USADA jacket for 50 clean tests last year in March.

This is not the first controversy that Abdelaziz has been vocal about. He was incredibly on the offensive when his client Islam Makhachev was accused of IV use during UFC 284. However, he royally fumbled the ball in a deleted tweet.

Islam Makhachev’s IV controversy

UFC 284 came to be shrouded in controversy after accusations of alleged IV use were levied against Islam Makhachev. The Dagestani had beaten pound-for-pound number one Alexander Volkanovski in his own backyard. However, rather than a champion’s welcome, Makhachev received doubts and accusations from all directions.

His manager did not help his case by making a poorly informed take via a deleted tweet. The Egyptian wrote, “For all those idiots out there, any fighter under the UFC banner can take 2-3 liters of IV as long as it’s done by a nurse or a professional, next week I’m gonna expose everybody. Islam Makhachev is pound-for-pound king.”

The issue died down after no conclusive proof came out against Makhachev. Further, no complaints were made against him for any commissions to investigate.
