Beneil Dariush had a Fight Of The Night performance against Carlos Diego Ferreira at UFC Fight Night 184. Dariush came out with a split decision win after dominant performances in the first and the second round. Many believed he should have gotten a unanimous decision instead of a split. Nevertheless, he got the win he needed.
But Dariush revealed he didn’t quite stick to his original gameplan, and his wife noticed that. She called him after the fight and yelled at him, according to the perennial lightweight contender. Dariush is now 2 up on the scorecard against Ferreira, as he has beaten the Brazilian before, at UFC 179.
“The gameplan was defense, defense, defense, and I threw that out the window, but I had fun. So it wasn’t like what I thought it was gonna be. My wife just called me and yelled at me. And she said, that’s, that was not the game plan. But I enjoyed that. And then immediately after the fight, I was really emotional,” said Dariush in the post-fight press conference.

A fight against a top contender like Paul Felder or Dan Hooker could be very enticing for the veteran. Former champion Rafael dos Anjos or former interim belt holder Tony Ferguson are great matchups as well. We just have to see who the UFC matches him up against.
Was Dariush’s wife right to yell at him after such a good win? Who should the veteran fight next?
