Khabib Nurmagomedov was in attendance at the Eagle FC 33 event of his organization Eagle FC. Khabib is currently retired after he beat Justin Gaethje to defend his Lightweight championship. This was Nurmagomedov’s promotion tournament, which featured some distinguished guests.

One of them was Andrey Kirilenko, the former NBA player and the current president of the Russian Basketball Federation. Kirilenko also holds a position in the central board of FIBA. He played for Utah Jazz and the Brooklyn Nets, later on, to finish his stints in the NBA.

Khabib Nurmagomedov in conversation with Match TV

Khabib sat down with Match TV, a Russian Publication, before the event. He talked about many things like signing UFC and other MMA legends, his future as a fighter, signing fighters for Eagle FC, and the future of the Lightweight division in the UFC.

Khabib also talked about selection criteria at Eagle FC. He said, “We have people reviewing the fighters. I propose some guys myself, some are offered to me, and I am considering their candidacies. The partners have to listen to me, as I have a little more experience in MMA. I see the fighters better.” (Translated via Google Translate)

He also talked about Dustin Poirier and his fight vs. Conor McGregor. “I would not say that Poirier and McGregor disappointed me. They showed nothing supernatural. I fought with Poirier, nothing special. It’s the same with Conor,” he said.

In the end, he revealed that he is set to meet Dana White in the coming week to discuss his future. We are all set for a real treat if the talks lead to a comeback fight in the UFC.
