

Kamaru Usman has issued another challenge to Khamzat Chimaev. The former welterweight champion had previously made his desire to fight Khamzat clear after his second loss to Leon Edwards.

The Nigerian made the pronouncement at UFC 290, challenging Chimaev to cut weight and fight him at welterweight. Chimaev responded in a video on his Instagram, inviting Usman to come up to middleweight.

Kamaru Usman calls on Khamzat Chimaev to come down to welterweight
Kamaru Usman reminded the media that he was still a scary fighter in the welterweight division despite his losses to welterweight champion Leon Edwards. “You know, at the end of the day, I have been — and still am — the boogeyman of this division,” Kamaru asserted.

He then challenged Khamzat to cut the weight and fight at 170 lbs if he wants to be champion. “I asked for the guy. If you want to fight — you want to be a champion — cut the f****** weight and come fight.” Kamaru said.

Khamzat responded on his Instagram, questioning why Kamaru is even talking about him if he doesn’t want to come up. “Kamaru Usman, why are you talking about me? You said you want to fight [at middleweight]. The weight [is] no problem for you. You are the boogeyman but I am the wolf. Come up.” Chimaev said.
