Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya, once fierce rivals, appear to have resolved their epic feud. To the surprise of many, the two former opponents were seen sitting together at UFC 312 in Sydney, watching the fights side by side. Instead of being tense, the former middleweight champions laughed, posed for photos, and even engaged in a fun exchange that instantly went viral. Their unexpected reunion, however, took a more serious turn when Pereira extended an invitation to train together, suggesting a potential partnership that no one saw coming.
During the event, ‘Poatan,’ who was in Sean Strickland’s corner for the middleweight title fight, was captured on video making an offer to Adesanya. “Let us train together. Let’s make this collaboration materialize. I have a lot to show you, just as you have a lot to show me. “Chama!” exclaimed the reigning light heavyweight kingpin to his former rival. As expected, the clip soon went viral on social media, as just the idea of these two former adversaries working together was nearly unthinkable just a few years ago.
As the Brazilian is preparing to defend his championship against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313, training alongside ‘The Last Stylebender’ could prove to be a really beneficial move. Ankalaev is well-known for his varied skill set, including deadly wrestling and grinding pressure. Training with Adesanya—one of the sport’s most technically gifted strikers—could help him improve his striking defense, movement, and general fighting strategy.

While the former champion is coming off a heartbreaking KO loss to Nassourdine Imavov, Israel Adesanya is still one of MMA’s most intellectual brains and might provide important insight into Pereira’s preparation. Especially when Alex Pereira has also accepted a super fight that might take place once he is done with Magomed Ankalaev. But whom will he be facing?

Alex Pereira accepts middleweight fight
Even though he did not participate in UFC 312 last Saturday, Alex Pereira dominated a portion of the event’s headlines. This is because, in addition to enjoying the spectacle with his old opponent Israel Adesanya, the Brazilian acted as Sean Strickland’s cornerman in the main fight. This role made ‘Poatan’ the target of a challenge from Dricus du Plessis, who defeated the American and retained the middleweight belt. Everything now seems to point to a potential super-fight between the champs in the future. At least that’s what the São Paulo striker claims.
During his speech after the victory, Du Plessis took advantage of the fact that ‘Poatan’ was only a few meters away, at the corner of Strickland, and challenged him, albeit in an indirect way. With the microphone in his hand, the South African champion looked at Pereira, took two steps forward, and shouted, “Is there no one else?” Daniel Cormier, who was paying attention on stage, swiftly recognized the scenario and said, “You’re talking to Alex Pereira.”

However, for some reason, ‘Poatan’ did not respond to the call, enter the octagon, or even approach the South African. Moments later, in an interview with ‘FullSend MMA,’ the Brazilian champion said that he did not understand what the middleweight champion had said. Plinio Cruz, his coach and translator, advised him to meet Du Plessis backstage on the undercard, just after the ‘main event’ ended. Cruz then revealed that Alex Pereira made a deal to face his enemy, with a handshake to seal the eventual superfight.
He said, “So luckily we were walking down, Dricus had the belt, and Alex came to him and said, ‘I heard you called me out.’ He goes, ‘Yes,’ Alex says, ‘Make it happen at 205.’ Dricus looked, thought a little bit, and said, ‘Deal.’ So let’s see now if he runs back with his word, if he keeps it up. Let’s see that superfight happen.” So, it looks like we could be getting the dream fight we all longed for. Who would you be rooting for? Let us know in the comments.
