The UFC fans have been thrilled to hear various fight announcements leading from Sean Strickland vs. Dricus Du Plessis to Sean O’Malley vs. Marlon Vera. But one fight card has fans eagerly waiting for the announcement. With the UFC 300 card yet to be released, fight fans are eager to know the matchups for the fight. The eagerness is leading to a lot of assumptions about the fight card, even mentioning names like Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz.

Fans are hoping for the UFC fight card to deliver, as it would be a big milestone for the promotion. One other reason is that UFC 100 and UFC 200 fight cards absolutely delivered with the UFC’s biggest stars fighting that night. Given that Dana White has announced the card to potentially hold a super fight, fans are anticipating a lot of fighters to make a return. Some are even speculating GSP to make a return against Nick Diaz. However, UFC superstar Stephen Thomson does not agree with the matchup. Here’s what the welterweight had to say.

On whether ‘Wonderboy’ was keen on the potential matchup between Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz, Thomson replied in a recent interview, stating, “I think there should be a better option for GSP. I mean, GSP is a lifelong martial artist. He’s still training every day and against somebody like Nick Diaz, I don’t think that would be very interesting. I think it would be very smart for GSP to take it and the fact that I just know that he would dominate Nick Diaz.”

‘Wonderboy’ then went on to add, “I mean we just saw, well everybody saw at Nick Diaz’s last fight wasn’t very impressive and just the way he was conversating after the fight. I had no clue what this dude was talking about. I don’t even know if he’s all there. I don’t know if he’s taking too much punishment over the years, or maybe it was just in the moment. He just didn’t speak very well, but I just didn’t feel like he should have been out there. And to face somebody like GSP, I wouldn’t want to fight GSP today.”

He concluded by saying how a matchup between him and GSP would play out. He stated, “Like if they asked tomorrow to fight him, I would say no. It would not be good for me. I think it would be smart for GSP, but I don’t think it would be very interesting. He would just dominate him.”

‘Wonderboy’ does have a point saying that a matchup between GSP and Nick Diaz wouldn’t make sense. But from a business standpoint, it would definitely bring in eyes to watch. Fans are also speculating Ronda Rousey will make a return for a trilogy fight against Miesha Tate.

Miesha Tate turned the clock back after a dominating performance against Julia Avila at UFC Fight Night: Dariush vs Tsarukyan. This dominant performance by Tate pegged on the fans to reignite her rivalry with Ronda Rousey for a trilogy fight at UFC 300.

A fight between the two would definitely make sense as both fighters had one of the most interesting rivalries. Ronda Rousey is two up against Tate. So it would be fitting for ‘Cupcake’ fans to see Tate secure a win in the Trilogy fight if it takes place.
