‘No Disrespect or Anything’- Derrick Lewis Calls Out Stipe Miocic for His Next UFC Fight

Derrick Lewis is one of the best heavyweights in the world. He is currently ranked number 3 in the division and is a UFC and MMA veteran. ‘The Black Beast’ has never backed down from a challenge throughout his career, and is definitely not short on confidence.

Lewis is currently preparing to take on the number 7 ranked heavyweight in the UFC, Chris Daukaus. Both men will headline UFC Fight Night 199, and it is sure to be an exciting and explosive matchup. However, Lewis is not just looking at his next opponent, but beyond that.

He is one of the most popular fighters on the roster and wants to keep fighting the biggest names in the game. According to Lewis, a fight with Stipe Miocic is something that he wants. He wants to fight for the title again next year and thinks Miocic will be the perfect next step towards that.

Lewis said, “I would like to fight for the title at the end of next year. That would be great. You know, get through Daukaus, God willing, I come out with the win, I would like to fight Stipe next. I believe he’s top five, so I believe that I should be fighting top-five guys in the division. Nothing against Stipe or nothing like that.”

“You know, I don’t feel like I have nothing to prove. It’s just a guy that I’ve never fought. I know he’s like one of the best of all time. You know, I ain’t sh*t, so I just want to just fight him just because. That’s all. No disrespect or anything like that,” he added.

Derrick Lewis can make history this weekend

The Black Beast‘ will have a chance to make history at UFC Fight Night 199. The number 3 ranked UFC heavyweight has been in the UFC for over seven years. During his time, he has secured an impressive number of knockout wins.

He currently has the most knockouts in UFC heavyweight history with 12. And he’s also tied for the most knockouts in UFC history with Matt Brown. If he knocks out Daukaus, he will be able to claim the record for himself.

However, Lewis is not really concerned about it. And according to him, he’ll be the only natural fighter to do it. He said, “I believe so. I thought I already had the record. But I really didn’t even think about that. That is another crazy thing that’s in my life right now, having a record like that.”

When told that he’ll have the most knockouts in UFC history and not just amongst heavyweights, he said, “Yeah that’s pretty cool, especially I’m the only natural fighter. I ain’t never took no supplements, no steroids, nothing like that. Just good ol’ chicken.”
