After watching him defeat Petr Yan at UFC 273, people want to see Aljamain Sterling defend his belt once again. Hence, when news broke out that he would be facing T.J. Dillashaw next, fans were excited. However, ‘Funkmaster’ has some clarifications about fighting Dillashaw.

The fighter uploaded a three-minute twenty-six seconds video on his YouTube channel and discussed the same. He said, “Okay guys, so the news has broke that I’m going to be fighting T.J. Dillashaw, aka, the king of pills, aka the pills of no skills. Possibly for September.”

“But the one thing I want to disclose was that there is no fight until there’s ink on paper. And as of right now, my contract is exactly the same, and usually when it’s not a title fight, when you win a fight, there’s an escalator. There has been no escalator in this fight.”

“I like to think that I played my part, did the right things, and even allowed myself to be the bad guy in the last outing with Petr Yan and I helped play-up the storyline.”

Sterling further said he hopes the promotion gives him a ‘pay bump’ as it naturally happens in contracts. He said, “For me, I want to make sure we get the deal right before we jump into another fight because, at the end of the day, I climbed through the ranks. I worked my a*s off and I play my position in terms of helping to promote the fights…”

Thus, unless the contracts are signed, fans will have to wait for Sterling’s title defense.
