Despite withdrawing from UFC 303, Conor McGregor is still the center of attraction. The 35-year-old suffered an injury that forced him out of the main event. However, the biggest question that has bothered many is not Dubliners’ injury but his return date. While many in the UFC world are terming the injury concerns as an excuse, others are concerned that the former champion is going through something serious and might not be able to return to the octagon anytime soon.

Daniel Cormier falls in the latter category as he expressed his worry over why the UFC did not announce McGregor’s return date while revealing his withdrawal from the upcoming June event. Looking at all the circumstances, the former champion reflected on ‘The Notorious’ chances of making a comeback in 2024 and it doesn’t seem like good news.

Conor McGregor’s return questioned by Daniel Cormier

Just like most MMA fans, Daniel Cormier was also waiting for the return of Conor McGregor. However, he is now more concerned about his return date. While speaking to Chael Sonnen on the ‘Good Boy/ Bad Boy’ podcast, the former champion raised a very important point. There have been athletes in the past who have been injured, but they always had a return date. However, the current scenario with McGregor has forced Cormier to believe that something is wrong.

‘DC’ said, “Conor McGregor pulling out of this fight to me says much more than just Conor McGregor pulling out of a fight”. Cormier feels a star like McGregor pulling out of a fight is a big deal for the fans. Emphasizing his point, the veteran added, “Let me tell you why. Because when you have a star of the level of McGregor. If he’s going to pull out, you want to give people a return date.”

The exact details of the injury are not clear to the fans. As a result, there is a lot of speculation surrounding his return. All such speculations have forced Cormier to believe that ‘Mystic Mac’ may not return in 2024 as he stated, “It’s very very concerning to me that I really don’t know when we’re gonna say Conor McGregor fight again. It’s not happening in 2024 at all. “
