Marvin Vettori earned a dominant decision victory against Kevin Holland in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Vettori vs Holland. After extending his run to 5-0, the Italian middleweight believes he has done his bit to secure his rematch against the current champion Israel Adesanya. He also claimed that he is the best in the world right now.
“You saw me like I every fight I’m different and he did the level like, you know, it’s almost like you know, Khabib wasn’t finishing fights all the time but he was putting up like such a crazy like dominant performances,” said Vettori to ESPN.
“I feel like I’m in the best you know that the best in the world nobody can hurt me in any way like I never got like any cause to get in like even close to to be in danger,” added ‘The Italian Dream’.

All three judges scored the bout 50-44 as Vettori controlled Holland on the ground for most of the contest, but he wasn’t happy with his performance as he wanted to add a finish to his record.

Meanwhile, Holland has now dropped two in a space of three weeks after going 5-0 in 2020. His last two opponents have exposed his takedown defense, or rather a lack of it. Hence, ‘Trailblazer’ needs to go back to the drawing board and rectify those areas of his game before returning to action.

Will Marvin Vettori get a title shot next?
‘The Italian Dream’ is currently on a five-fight winning streak in the 185lbs division. However, that might not be enough to earn him a shot at the gold just yet.
Former champion Robert Whittaker will fight Kelvin Gastelum next week, and the winner of that fight might just be preferred ahead of Vettori.

Nevertheless, Vettori has put himself in an excellent position in the 185 lbs division of the UFC. He will look to secure one or two more wins to earn his shot at the belt.
